Window — The Album Leaf

His heart felt like how hell should.
Love was a burning thing.
And it would set him on fire at any moment.

It was getting a bit warm now.

He picked the girl he loved, he fell asleep with his hand in hers, and woke up with his torso against her back in the center of the bed. How she smelt like vanilla and blood. Blood.

He remembered fragments of last night, with the soreness in his throat and the stiffness in his bones... Gerard didn't move, he wouldn't dare try to move and wake Adeline. The sun was only just beginning to wash against the walls of the room.

Her flesh was icy to the touch. Her breathing patterns were serene and slow. He would lie with her for hours if he could.

Yellow rays of light warmed the back of Adeline's neck and her eyelashes fluttered open “Hmm..” she twisted further into the sheets and faced him “Morning. ” she mumbled groggily.
Her fingers traced the outline of his jaw and smiled slightly “Yesterday was-... yesterday was wild.” Gerard joked thoughtfully “Um. Yeah.” Adeline replied simply, untangling herself from his arms and getting up.

“I'm gonna get out of here and pack.” the writer turned to leave but Gerard grabbed her and pulled her back into the bed, she let out a muffled yelp “C'mon gimme a kiss, first.” he laughed as she pecked his forehead.

Adeline rushed to the exit and stopped. Standing idle and still. Motionless next to the doorframe. Her chin loomed over her shoulder and her gaze was fixated on him. Adeline wiggled her fingers at him, waving him goodbye. She bent over picking up her shoes and proceeded to tip-toe out into the chilly summer morning.

Her cheeks were rosy from the briskness in the air, but her petite frame was shaken to the core when she heard “Morning, A.” Frank greeted passively “W-he- well hey!” Adeline felt her soul slowly detach from the interior of her body “Don't hey me.” he sighed looking at her shoes “Well hi.” she joked back weakly “It's not what I think, right?”
“Um... What do you think I think you think?” she swallowed hard.
“You didn't...” he slowly raised his brows.
“N-no! Of course not- no! You don't know anything about what went on last night.”

“I knew. I just pretended I didn't.” Frank deadpanned “Jamia told me that you would handle it all by yourself...” he went on to say, making Adeline's heart crawl into her throat “So even when I screamed for her you guys didn't move?”
“No.”
“I told her I would ask her for help if I needed it.”
“You seemed to handle it just fine. No one died, right?”

Adeline grew irritated “Frank. He could have.”
“And that would have been on you wouldn't it?” he softened his voice, feeling the impact of a simple fact crush him slowly “He's not good for you Adeline.”

“Well he's not good for himself!” her voice quaking as she snapped “He chose me! Frank. Me.”

The guitarist stayed quiet.
Adeline said nothing else.
They both stood there.

“Are you done?” he asked finally, grinding on her nerves. But she said nothing “I think that Gerard is about to do something stupid by going with yo-”

“No. No I'm fucking not.” she cut him off angrily, throwing her shoe and hitting him almost perfectly square in the forehead “Ah- th- fuckin- fuck! Adeline! ” he cowered, waving his hands at her “I could be done but you just don't seem to understand! You just see one side of him. I can see why you do, too! You're such an ass.”

“Stop defending him, Adeline! He's done this before!” he yelled as Mikey and Bob rushed out their rooms and into the square of grass between all of them, curious about why there was so much screaming coming from the once silent grounds “Screw off, Frank!” she threw another shoe at his shin “Shit- ass- fucking dick-sticks!” he grabbed his leg and wobbled a bit, Mikey walked over to her and grabbed her “What the fuck are you doing? What's going on here?”
