Noah paced the hallway he swore he saw Lucy disappear into and let out a breath of frustration, his hands ruffling aggressively through his hair. Was it just his imagination?
Surely he was bound to be over her at this point, it had been months since he had last saw her yet she was still having this much of an effect on him.
Why would she be here?
His jaw clenched and his breathing quickened as his mind travelled to the day she had left him broken and lost. Every moment of that day tortured his mind and Noah could feel his chest tighten from the memory of her face and how she had looked so devastated yet he was the one she had been un loyal too.
Noah's eyes closed for a moment, letting the pounding of his rapid heartbeat slow as he came to a stop just before the entrance of the ballroom.
Feelings of the past were beginning to hit him like a train and all the anger and frustration of Lucy's betrayal came rushing back to Noah and before he knew it, his fist had collided with the wall, sending a sharp shooting pain down his arm as he growled angrily.
How dare she come here.
A few of the guests in the hallway glanced his way but didn't utter a word as Noah strode through the doors and made his way to the bar on the other side of the room.
"A scotch on the rocks and keep them coming." He muttered to the bartender who nodded and proceeded with the drink order.
After downing two drinks, Noah felt a small hand curl around his bicep, the smell of fruity goodness filling the air around them before the feel of a breath was right next to his ear.
"You look stressed, what do you say we go back to your place and I will make it all go away." The feminine voice purred and Noah tried hard not to roll his eyes in the process.
He wasn't in the mood for such actions and quite frankly, it was off putting that he didn't even know what the woman looked like as she was still directly behind him.
Before answering, he whipped his head around to get a good view of the woman and his eyes widened just a little. Not because he was blown away by her beauty but rather how fake she actually looked.
Typical gold digger.
Although his vision was just a little fuzzy from the scotch, he could still make out the lust and desire in her eyes that she was directing towards him and his crotch and before he could roll his eyes he grabbed his drink and downed it, letting out a 'ahh' at the end.
Noah scanned her over, light blonde hair, dangerous blue eyes, a Botox face, fake boobs, a dress that may as well have been a belt. It was off putting.
"No thanks darling, go tell your agency I don't invite escorts to my events." And with that he turned back towards the bar, another drink in his hand as he heard the young woman huff in annoyance and stalk off behind him, leaving him with a slight grin on his face before downing another drink.
"Checking his watch, he saw it was a little past 11pm but the mood of the party had vanished since he had seen (or thought he saw) Lucy and all he wanted to do was go to sleep or else he would drink himself to oblivion.
