Chapter 7...

"If you weren't up fathers arse all of your life we may have gotten on."

"If you weren't a self-centred drunken asshole all of the time then maybe we could get on."

The two Hart brothers bickered for what felt like hours. Noah knew Elliot's game to keep showing up and distract him. All of their life, something had gotten in the way of the two brothers getting on. If it was a new toy, a girl or their father, they had always been bickering over something stupid.

"Why are you even here Elliot? You haven't visited since last July and all of sudden you start showing up interested in how my business is doing. I'm your brother and I know when your up to something, I thought you would realise that by now."

The anger in his voice made Elliot realise just how much he had underestimated his brother. Of course Elliot's out of the blue visits would heighten his suspiciousness and Elliot cursed at himself for not thinking about it clearly. If he was going to get Noah to sign over his deed to the business he needed to get him to trust him. That was where Lucy came in.

"You are right Noah, I haven't visited in a while but you know how it has been since the break up." Elliot said with despair.

"Don't give me that bullshit, I told you Beth wasn't the one for you, you kept blabbing on how perfect she was and how you were destined to be together. Now look at you. She's living the high life with that ex boyfriend of hers and you are here trying to piece up your broken heart." Noah's words ploughed through Elliot like a shovel. Taking a step back from the desk he was sat on he let out a deep breath.

Memories of Beth began to haunt him as he reminised on the last encounter he had with her. Oh how she had been so manipulative and cowardly.

"You know what, you are right. And both of us have gone through the same kind of betrayal I thought it would have been nice for us to build back our relationship." Elliot gestured as a vigorous smile planted on his lips.

"I have places to be and better people to see, so if you don't mind." Noah replied, gesturing his hand towards the door before heading towards the cabinet full of alcholholic beverages.

"Maybe I should I hire security for your next visit brother."

Elliot rolled his eyes drastically before making his exit from the office.

"Anna?" His voice called out from the door to her office where she was currently racking her brain over the tight schedule she had to complete before the end of the week. She looked up to see a familiar face.

"Elliot? I didn't expect to see you here, come in." The young woman gestured for him to take a seat opposite, feeling more sophisticated than the last time she saw him. She couldn't help but smile when she was in his presence.

"Nice office." He laughed sarcastically as he looked around. A lot had changed since he last saw Anna, she was looking after herself, the young fragile girl he met on the park bench had blossomed.

Anna still didn't understand Elliot's relationship with Noah. He had come by a week ago whilst Anna was in her office and she could hear the frustration the brothers let out in the room next to her but thought nothing of it. All siblings fight.

"I can't complain, I didn't even have my own place a month ago. I'm doing well for myself I might say." Her smile lit up the room around him. She was so sweet yet so fragile he felt she was holding back. She was so intriguing that whenever he thought of her, he felt A slight pinch in his chest.

"What are you doing later?" The question was simple yet held so many meanings. Of course he would like to take her out. It surprised Elliot just as much as Anna.
