I was packing my bags to get ready for my paid Summer vacation when I decided to sit my shirt in my suitcase and text Normani.

Lately, her and I have been doing so good. Dinah never even comes around her or the house anymore. I can tell it bothers Normani but she doesn't admit it. Mostly because she's too busy 'chilling' at my place with me.

Y/N: manibear, are you sure you don't want to come to H-Town with me? this is Beyoncés roots. I could take you to third ward if you want 🙈

Kordei: I would love to come but
1) wouldn't it be strange if I showed up with you?
2) I already know Bey. I don't really feel the need to visit her old house. so stop trying to bribe me with Yonce moments lol

Y/N: it would never be strange. I'm sure my parents would love to meet you. even if we are posing as 'just friends'

Kordei: because that's what we are

Y/N: that's such bullshit and you know it 😏

Kordei: I know 😩 but I have to keep telling myself that. I don't want Dinah getting suspicious even though she wouldn't know about us if I just blatantly told her

Y/N: you should do that 🙏🏼

Kordei: 🙅🏾 I really shouldn't.

Y/N: ugh fine but please please please come with me. I'll miss you so much

Kordei: I won't miss you 😒

Y/N: quit lyin. you know you will

Kordei: ok I will 🙊 when are you leaving?

Y/N: four hours

Kordei: is there any first class seats left?

Y/N: I wouldn't know. I'm in coach because IM NOT A FAMOUS DESIGNER

Kordei: then I'll sit in coach with you. send me your flight info and I'll get a spot on your plane. I mean, you're right. this could honestly help me with my Beyoncé trivia.

Y/N: WHO SAID PEER PRESSURE DOESNT WORK?!?!?!  NO ONE. MEET ME AT MY PLACE IN TWO HOURS AND WE WILL LEAVE TOGETHER. OK BABE? 💗

Kordei: ok baby. I'll be there soon 👄 love you.

Y/N: love you too

Luckily, Normani got her seat next to me but she wanted the window. Apparently, her curiousty doesn't stop at staring at the city and people below her. She's intrigued by the clouds and the sky above the city.

We made it Houston, and walked out of the gate to grab our belongings from the baggage claim. We started heading out to where the entrance was so we could get a cab and low and behold, there they were. My parents.

Mom was holding a huge poster board up that said 'My Mija is finally home'. Pink glitter outlined the letters and there were huge hearts drawn around it. Basically, it was my mother's own home project and it made me smile.

I ran with my luggage trailing behind me to jump into my Mom and Dad's arms happily. Even though I hated home growing up, it was a safe haven to return to and I appreciated that more than anything.

Mom gave me thirty pecks all over my face and softly repeated, "I missed you," Over and over again with each peck.

"Ma!" I begged and she pulled away with a smile.

"Sorry. I just haven't seen you since New York and you've been so distant and-"

"Mom." I interrupted her, "I know." I looked over to see my Dad standing by his wife patiently. I tip toed as much as I could to kiss his cheek and give him a hug. "And hey Daddy. It's been years."

He kissed the top of my head and gave me the biggest hug he could, "It's great to see you too, baby girl."

Mom's eyes were directed to something behind me, so when I turned and saw a smiling Normani, I knew it was time to introduce her.

"Oh, Mom and Dad. This is my friend, Normani." Friend. It was like stomach acid burning my throat when I said that one little word. It hurt so bad that I couldn't have what I wanted.

"Nice to meet you." Mom smiled before pulling Normani into a huge hug that I'm sure she didn't expect. After pulling away, she breathed out, "Now, let's go home."

The week long party had already started. People were already piled into the lower level of my parents house. Plates, cups, and beer bottles were strung out everywhere.

"Oh God." Mom groaned. She turned to push Dad roughly in frustration, "Troy, you told me your brother would keep the place clean. Do you see this mess?"

I just smirked because it was nice to hear their loving bickering once again. I grabbed Normani's hand and pulled her towards the stair case, "We're gonna go settle in."

"Okay, hun." Mom happily said. "We will be here. By the way, Grandma will be here in a bit."

I nodded her off and pulled Normani upstairs to the familiar place I've been waiting to come back to for quite a while now.

We stopped outside of my bedroom door and I looked at her, "Are you ready to see the most embarrassing thing I could ever show you? I mean, if my parents haven't changed it up."

"I'm so ready." She smiled.

I turned the handle and opened the door to see that the place had not changed a bit.

There were posters of artists all over one wall, a huge bed pressed to the side, a desk with a Mac Desktop but fashion books were piled around the computer. Let's not even mention the fact that there were tons of papers stacked on top of each other messily. The room was exactly how I left it and I was amazed that my parents hadn't decided to create a home gym or something.

"This is so 'you'." Normani giggled, setting her bags to the side, "But in the best way."

"Yeah, yeah. Laugh it up. I'd love to see your childhood room." I snapped back at her jokingly while walking over to my desk to see the stacked papers. Those were my old designs. Not only for clothes but accessories and shoes. I had a dream that I would create it all, once.

"My childhood room isn't near as exciting as yours." The beautiful woman stated, pulling her long braids up into a bun. She strutted over to my dresser where I had a few CD's arranged. They were mostly Destiny's Child but there were a few embarrassing ones like Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers. "Really?" She laughed, picking up one case, "Did you have a little Justin Bieber obsession?"

I walked over to snatch the My World 2.0 CD from her and glared, "No. I just got it because there was a song on here that I really liked and I was too lazy to do the whole iTunes thing."

"Mhm." She laughed. "That's totally it."

I set the CD back in place and pulled Normani into me from behind as she searched through more of my embarrassing music. My arms went around her fit waist perfectly as I my chin on her shoulder, "So, where's your hometown?"

"Um," She thought about it for a second then finally answered, "Portland."

"Oh. That's far."

"Yeah." Normani sadly replied, "I don't go home much, though."

"Why not?"

Her fingers grazed over the cases in front of her until she found a old Michael Jackson CD, "Its just not where I want to be, I guess."

I kissed her cheek softly, "Well, you can come home with me anytime."

A small giggle left her lips as she put the Cd back so she could turn around and kiss my lips. We were so close that there was barely any room to breath, "Id always come home with you." She whispered before connecting our lips once again.
