Why

It started out so simple
I didn't allow myself to think
When you sidled up next to me
And offered me a drink
That's what you wanted huh?
You wanted to get me drunk
Might've all went a different way
If I had had better luck
Unfortunately fate
Brought you to me that day
And before I could protest
My world began to fade
I woke up hours later
In your apartment
You had a bottle in hand
I knew what this meant
I know what you'll say
You'll say, "I didn't mean it
It shouldn't happened this way"
But both of us know
What you intended to do
Except somewhere in my consciousness
I hadn't but a clue
You'd seemed so charming
At that bar last night
I should've left you alone
I should've got out of your sight
But something about you
Was too intriguing to ignore
I decided to give you a chance
Though I dunno what the hell for
After a few weeks
Word was out I was gone
There was missing person report
Two days later at dawn
The police went out there looking
And hoped to find me alive
But couldn't you imagine their shock
When they found one hell of a surprise
So now I'll ask you mister
After all the years
I've been poking in the alleys
Trying to get out of here
Why, in the bright
Midday sunlight
Did you stab me in the heart
And watch the light leave my eyes?
Why, after this happened
Did you not so much as care
But to dismember my body
And dump me in a ditch somewhere?
You know my friends must be looking
And I hope they'd know your face
If they saw you in the crowd
Or in a market place
But so far it seems
That you're still on the loose
Probably looking for another girl
To hang from a noose
I hope that she escapes though
And keeps well hid
And that she doesn't trust the monster
Like I did
What could've been so bad
That you had to take a life?
I guess that's what happens
When nobody hears your cries
I wish it wouldn't have
Been me that night
But I was dumb enough to stay
Didn't even put up a fight
I guess I shouldn't ask you
Who it should've been to die
But I will still always wonder
Just simply 'why?'
