Chapter 5:

She made heads turn as she made her way to greet each of her guests, but one particular set of eyes were fixed on her. Following her each move. Ria felt a gaze fixed constantly on her. She was about to turn to look at the owner of the pair of eyes fixed on her when,

“Princess, there is someone very eager to meet you. He is a very old friend of your father’s and mine.” Said Dad as he led her across the hall.

“Princess, Meet Balraj Chauhan. And Balraj this is the Diva you have been so eager to meet.”

“Mr. Chauhan it is very nice to meet you. I’ve been quite eager to meet the Motel King myself”

“Well the pleasure is all mine, my dear. I’ve been waiting to meet the Diva who has created such a sensation in the business world. And please Uncle would be alright, Mr. Chauhan is too formal. For me and your Dad were quite close during college. I’m sorry to hear about your Dad, my dear. I hadn’t known until I heard about you taking over the company. We all miss him dearly.”

“Let’s not get all teary now, Balraj. We all know you are a softy”, Said Dad trying to lighten the mood.

“Very well now, Diva dear you were saying something about wanting to meet me”

“Well yes Uncle. I had a business proposal.”

“Well dear, I myself had one for you. I was looking forward to a tie up…” but Uncle Balraj was cut short.

“Dad, I’m sure Miss Nanda here would very much like to talk business in a conference hall rather than at a party.”Adi had seen this as the right opportunity to meet the lady who had men fall at her feet. He had reluctantly come to a business party. He always considered Business parties boring and the only thing that kept him entertained were the ladies swooning him. But, as soon as his gaze settled on this Lady clad in blue, the party seemed to have become interesting. His eyes never left her. Suddenly, all the ladies swooning him started to seem dull in comparison to the goddess with ocean blue eyes.

“Son, so you did find me. I thought you were lost amidst the ladies. Anyways, Diva dear this is my son Adiraj. And, Adi meet the Diva, Princess Ria Nanda.”

“Nice to meet you Mr. Chauhan.” Said Diva extending her hand.

“The pleasure is all mine. And it’s Adi to you. Mr. Chauhan seems so…like my Dad.” He said taking her hand and pressing a kiss on her knuckles instead of just a shake.

Diva withdrew her hand covering up her hastiness with a low laugh. She knew this was a player she would have to deal with the moment she saw him and being the Diva that she was knew very well how to handle such players.

“It will be Adi from now on then. And gentlemen if you would excuse me I think my Angel would be frantically searching for me.”

She bid he adieus to everyone and set on her way to search for her Lil’ Angel.

Ria got up early on a Sunday a morning as usual. She never let herself to even think of lazing around for even a moment. She kept herself busy to keep out any thoughts of sorrow.

Sunday meant no college and no work. It was her day to entertain herself. And her means of entertainment were adventure sports, reading or a day out riding her stallion around the farm with her dogs by her side.

And this Sunday she felt like having a bit of adrenaline rush, so she set out for sky diving after her routine workout and breakfast. Raj was not so fancy with Diva’s habit of doing something ‘reckless’ on her Sunday’s. But, he went with it trusting that she knew how to handle herself.

Every so often that day Diva had a few annoying thoughts on her mind. Annoying cause’ the thoughts were about Adi. She knew the look in his eyes when she bid her goodbye to him. She knew it wouldn’t be the last time she would see him. She knew he would find ways to get into her life. It wasn’t the thought of having a player on her back that annoyed her cause’ it wasn’t the first time she handled players. It was the thought that he would try to learn what made her so hard in life that annoyed her. Knowing him as a Rajput Prince she knew it that once he knew her past he would act different with her. Maybe he wouldn’t show that he pitied her but yeah he would change his attitude towards her just like others had. She didn’t know why people thought that just cause’ she went through some rough phase in life they would need to be soft towards her. That she couldn’t handle the roughness of life.

But, they were wrong. She wanted to see how fate and destiny would play with her. She wanted to handle everything that would be thrown in her life by herself. She didn’t want people filtering her life for her. She didn’t need people to handle things for her. All she wanted was one person who would stand by her and let her handle things on her own; who would be there for her and hold her just in case stumbled on her path.

She decided she wouldn’t waste time thinking about him. A player wasn’t worth her time.
