Chapter 4:

As years passed, the fondness and love people had towards their Lil’ Angel didn’t falter. People adored her just as much as they adored Ria. Ria grew up to become a talk amongst the society. She had grown up to look as gorgeous as any Greek goddess and as smart in business tactics as Athena was in her ways of war. At 18, she relieved her Uncle from the burden of managing her company. She balanced business, studies and family very efficiently.

The people of Nanda Group as well as the business tycoons were taken by her stern ways of business. As much as they hated to admit it even her rivals admired her, for her success at such a young age.

She graduated with vibrant colors. She aced music. She excelled in the field of dance. Her title as Diva wasn’t just limited to her school and college. She became the Diva even in the business field.

Looking at her people thought she had a perfect life. A loving family, successful business, fame, status, luxury, beauty and what not, but, what they couldn’t see were the tears behind her smile and the broken heart behind her flawless beauty.

She had everything in life that a person would ever ask for. She had men falling at her feet. But, she didn’t cast one glance at them. People considered this her arrogance. But, they didn’t see the broken girl hiding behind that arrogant image. They did not even think for a moment that may be she had her own reasons behind her attitude.

She couldn’t let anyone past that wall she had built around herself. She couldn’t let anyone see her broken heart. She didn’t want people see her miserable life. She couldn’t let anyone see through her. She wanted people to see her as a tough girl. Cause’ she knew they couldn’t understand just as they didn’t understand her till now. They didn’t understand even the most perfect people aren’t perfect without a companion. A companion she didn’t have. A companion who may be didn’t exist at all. She needed a shoulder to lean on, she needed someone who would kiss away her pain, someone who wipe her tears, someone who would bring a smile on her face even in the most difficult situations in life, someone who would understand and complete her needs even before she herself realized what she wanted, someone who would grow old with her, someone who would find her just as beautiful as she is now even after 50 years from now, someone in whose arms she could peacefully go to sleep knowing that she is safe, someone with whom she could share her tears and smiles. What they didn’t understand was that her oh!-so-perfect life wasn’t all that perfect after all.

Today, the Nanda Group had thrown a party to celebrate of cracking a deal on lead of their CEO. Yeah! This was to celebrate another one of Ria Nanda, the Diva’s achievement. Every Business tycoon of New York and London was present at the party, Cause’ this was the first time in the past three years that Diva made a public appearance. Today they got to meet her, today they to see for themselves that if the rumors they heard about her were true or not. Everybody eagerly waited for her to grace them with her presence.

Meanwhile…..

“Mom this is such a perfect fit! The dress awesome! Thank you very much”, said Diva wearing the dress for the evening designed by Aunt Ash herself. It was a rich blue, one shoulder dress flowing down till her feet.

“Uh-huh! There is still one thing missing to make this outfit perfect.”

“What’s missing?”, frowned Diva assessing her outfit and finding everything in place.

“Close your eyes, Princess”.

As soon as Diva closed her eyes, Ash produced a jewelry box. She fastened the necklace that lay in it around Diva’s neck. Diva opened her eyes to find the world’s most beautiful necklace around her neck. On the thin chain of was the most beautiful heart shaped pendant within it was a delicate butterfly embedded with diamonds.

“This is beautiful, Mom”

“This belongs to Rashmi, your mom. Today you are making your first public appearance I thought maybe this would be the right time to hand it over to you.”

“Thank you very much, Mom.” said a teary eyed Ria.

“Okay okay. Now, no need for tears n’ all. Let’s get going there are people waiting for you.”

At the hall…

“Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the CEO of Nanda Group, the Diva herself, Princess Ria Nanda” announced Raj motioning towards the stairs. All heads turned towards the stairs as Ria made her way down. Her Uncle waited for her at the bottom; took her right hand in his and kissed her knuckles. Together they made way to the stage.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I heartily thank you for joining us and sharing our joy on our achievement.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every person associated with the Nanda Group for accepting me as your boss even though I was a young girl merely out of high school and with no experience. Thank you for believing in me. And of course my family, for being there for me through my ups and downs, for having faith in me and most importantly for accepting me as your family.

Thank you, Mom and Dad for becoming my family. For being there for me when no one was. For bringing this Lil’ Angel in my life, who brought nothing but smiles and light into my world.”

My achievements or success wouldn’t be possible without the Nanda group crew and my family. Thank you once again. And enjoy the party.”

Ria kept up her role as a good hostess and saw to it that her guests were well entertained, Lil’ Angel always at her side.
