Chapter Seventeen: Seraphim on Fire
Paige was brought to the library by Colossus, his ax ready to slay her head. Once they entered the library, she gasped in amazement: it was a round spacious room; shelves were as high as the dome above and the books were incredibly thick; at the table were Juno and Maddox. The Sisters came down from one of the shelves and asked Paige to sit.
Paige’s muscles were shaking; her hands were sweaty and cold. She wished she has a gun and shot them. On the other side of the table were Juno and Maddox. Maddox smiled at her.
“Good day, Paige.” Juno said. His voice was calm but terrifying. His horns were larger than she thought; awkwardly curved backwards and the ends of it were almost poking his cheeks.
Paige’s heart beat faster. She did not reply. Instead, she rolled her eyes and sighed.
“I never knew my nephew is stubborn.” He smiled at her.
Paige couldn’t help to reply. She said, “I’m not your nephew!”
“Oh, as expected Eric did not tell you the truth.” He laughed. “I’m your father’s half-brother. I’m your uncle, Paige. My mother was Stella Branford; she had a relationship with Charles Everett. I was their love child. ”
“Stop it!” Paige creamed. “You’re a monster!”
“Both of us are monster, Paige. Don’t deny it, you belong to the dark side. Your horns perfectly fit you. It’s because of him why this monster became cold hearted and greedy.” He said, “You look like Lisa. Such a naïve beauty it only reminded me of what she did to me: Blinded me for two years.”
“You deserved it!” Paige said and crossed her arms on her chest like what Seraphina does when she gets pissed off or annoyed.
He stood up and Maddox handed the Sisters a bag of Seraphim feathers and bars of gold.
Juno held Paige by the wrist and they both went outside the mansion. He said, “It’s time to go back to hell.”
“Thank you.” Victoria said.
“Enjoy her.” Cassandra said and she grinned.
A black carriage pulled by black horses was in front of the mansion. He slid her inside and Maddox followed her. They sat and she said, “Feel at home.”
Paige felt they travelled through time and space. Her heart was beating so fast and she wanted to rip her chest out. She sighed and prayed.
Seraphina wore her gears, so as the others. Spark spread his wings and said, “Let’s go! We need to rescue, Paige.”
“Spark, don’t try to be a hero. It’ll kill you, okay?” Nilage said in a calm voice.
He obediently nodded.
Rafael went down with his armored maids; their wings were transparent. He said, “My army is ready! Let’s have some party!”
“Wow!” Deajah screamed. “I’m so excited for this!” She swung her mace; there was a whip hanging around her waist.
He tapped his foot on the floor and a hole appeared. They jumped and travelled through time and space. They found themselves standing at the courtyard. Tessa and Asher quickly transformed into their werewolf form. The maids flew and scanned the whole courtyard; Tessa tried to find scent from Paige. She found Paige’s and also Maddox’s and Juno’s.
The Horned Sisters came with a swarm of grotesque green goblins. They fought the maids while Rafael and Seraphina fought the Sisters.
Rafael threw a blast of fire towards the Sisters but they blocked it with an invisible shield. Seraphina charged herself towards them but a yellow flash of light struck her. She was paralyzed. He threw a gust of air but they both swallowed it and breathed a blast of fire.
