Luna's P.O.V
When I woke up in the morning I felt something crawling on my arm. I looked down and found a million tiny ants crawling up and down my arm. A scream escaped my mouth which woke Shadow up. I struggled to undo the strap on me.
I undid my self and rolled over to meet the soft, wet dirt. I know I shouldn't be freaked out by ants considering that I live out in the woods but ants are the one thing that I am afriad of. Ever since I was a little girl. If I saw one in the house I would scream.
I looked up from where I had been and saw something strange. I laughed. Ryan had rolled off the front of the branch and now was hanging off the back of it. He waved "Hey can you help me out here." I walked closer toward him and asked "How did you get like that?" He laughed "Same thing that happened to you. I freaked out. Although I wasn't calm enough to think about undoing my belt."
I walked over to him and climbed the tree to undo his belt. "Watch your head." I warned as I let go of the belt. "Wha-" Ryan said as he fell from the tree and onto the ground. When we met on the ground I saw he was holding his right temple. "Ow... could you have given me a little time to brace myself before you let go." He whined. I looked up at him sheepishly "Oops. Sorry."
Ryan laughed. "Nah its okay. It doesnt hurt that bad." He was lying. I could see a red bump on his head. "Yes it does. I can see it." I said. "Well its not like I can do anything about it, unless you have some ice in your bag." I thought about this for a moment staring at my bag with a wriggling Shadow in it. Then I had an idea.
"Wait here." I ran off away into the woods. From what I could tell it could have been about 7 or 8 a.m. Perfect.
I stopped and used my ears. To my left there was what seemed to be the sound of trickling water. I hoped it was. As I ran to the sound I found that it was a small stream. I put my finger in the water and immeadiatly took it back out. Just as i suspected. Cold. I filled me canteen with the cold water and ran back to Ryan a small smile on my face.
When I reached the tree I found Ryan playing with Shadow. She was biting his hand and growling playfully. Well at least she was getting used to human conact. Almost like me I thought to myself. No that can't be right, i'm perfectly content with me, myself and I. Then why am I bringing Ryan along with me? That was an easy question. Of course he's with me so I can make sure he doesn't tell anybody about me. Then why don't I kill him?
As I walked in camp still wondering about that question when I was interupted by Ryan "Luna where did you go?" When he said my name for some reason it brought me back to my memory I had last night. Should I tell him we've met before? Is that the answer to my question? I can't kill him because I know him? Or is it something else?
"Hey, Luna? You okay?" I shook my head and looked up at him. Ryan had Shadow in his arms looking at me with a confused expression "Yeah i'm fine." I answered him. "Just... thinking. Here you go." I handed him the canteen.
As soon as he touched Ryan said "Thanks this is what I needed." He pressed the cold canteen up to the bump on his head. OW! Crap!" he yelled and dropped Shadow who yelped. "Here let me see." Ryan handed me the canteen. I looked at the bump on his head and gently placed the canteen on it. He winced. I took the canteen back off and gently touched the bump that was now bright red.
I felt eyes on me. I looked down to see Ryan staring at me with his deep brown eyes. I blushed and pressed the canteen up to his head a little to hard. "Ow jeez Luna." Ryan said. "Oh i'm sorry I didn't mean to." I blushed even deeper. I got distracted under his gaze.
"Here." I handed the canteen back to him. Ryan took it and moved a strand of his curly hair out of his face. He was still looking at me. "We should get a move on." I said. "We can walk today."
I walked over to pick up Shadow and stuffed her into my backpack. "Aren't we going to eat first?" Ryan asked. "No we will walk a little bit then eat. I'm not that hungry."
"Well I am." He argued. I smiled slightly. "Well i'm the one who makes the decisions here and I say we walk first, eat later." I started walking towards him and pushed him over a little bit with my shoulder. "Now come on."
Ryan smiled and followed me. We walked side by side together into the woods. For some strange reason I felt content with him beside me. I smiled. I think I knew the answer to my question.
