I woke up startled and I grabbed my bow and arrows. I listened until I heard the "tweet, tweet" of all the little birds. How silly of me I thought usually the birds never startle me. I set my bow and arrows down and I stretched. My whole body ached but all I needed to do was stretch my sore limbs. I stood up and almost fell over but I kept my stance. The cold morning air was nippy. I decided I should start a fire. I grabbed my kindle, put it in my fire spot, and grabbed my lighter. The fire blazed. I put my bear meat over it so it could cook. The fire crackled as it licked the meat.

I walked over to my bed and pulled out my little mirror. My name is Luna.....my parents died from a fire in our house, I lost all of my possessions, the authorities forced me into an orphanage, I ran away, I just turned 15, I am struggling to survive in the woods,it's almost winter........ I told the mirror. I do this every single morning so I remember why I am here. I have already forgotten my last name.

I smell burning meat so I run over to the fire and take the meat off. It's a little burnt but other wise it's ok. I take a bite of that juicy bear meat. Next thing I know it's all gone. My stomachs growling but I don't dare heat up another piece. If I find something else today then I'll eat more. I look back in my mirror and I see a brave girl. She has deep brown curly hair that flows down a little beneath her shoulders. She is kind of dirty. I look away and put the mirror back in it's place. Time to walk around.

I grab my bow and arrows and I walk silently away from my camp. Before I leave I turn around and look at my home. I have a little green tent that protects me from the weather. I have a brown tarp over my whole camp. There is one garbage bag that holds my food. The garbage bag keeps in the smell of the food so no other animals come by and eat it. It also keeps out bacteria that may spoil the food. I smile. This is my home now and I think its perfect.

I jog away to go see what I can get today. All you can hear is the sounds of the woods I am that quiet. I don't want to scare the animals away so I have learned to walk silently through the forest. Oh I almost forgot, today I also need to do my special activities. I armed my bow. I heard little footsteps on a tree above me. I aimed and shot. There was a thump on the ground. I ran over to it and I saw a gray squirrel. My arrow was stuck in the squirrels neck. I pulled my bow out of it's neck and put beside me on the ground. I grabbed the squirrel and stuffed it in my food bag. Great 1 down hopefully many others to go.

                                                                        10 hours later

My back is the sorest. I am literally limping back to camp. I have a pretty big load on my back. I'm really proud of myself. Usually I get very little. So tonight I can eat more than usual. You know what would go good with this meat I thought to myself a baguette and some rootbeer. I smiled to myself. I couldn't wait for tonight to come.

When I finnally got back home I dropped my food bag and plopped down on my bed. I touched my soft furs on my bed. Since I live in the woods I skin the animals of there furs to keep warm. I know it sounds disgusting, i'm pretty disgusted too, but its how I survive. I looked up into the sky. It was dark out but I could still tell that the sun was out. There was a little brightness to the sky. I couldn't go out yet.

I decided I would cook a little meat and save some for when I get back. I got my fire going and started spinning my meat over it. I stared into the fire and thought, I live a pretty good life. Sometimes I do get lonely. I wish I had someone by my side, helping me out. I have stayed away from any human contact for a long time. I think i'm starting to regret it. No! I shouldn't be thinking that. They threw me in a place I never wanted to go. I had gotten so upset that I think they put me out by gasing me or something. "Hmmmmm........." As I gazed into the fire the sounds of nature went with me into my own little world.
