Chapter 11

Luana's P.O.V

It was getting really dark out so I found a tree and we slept there. It was covered in green moss and had huge thick branches. I knew this tree would work. Ryan on the other hand was a little cautious about it. He had said "But what if I fall out?" I rolled my eyes "Don't worry silly, I'll strap you in." When I found him a nice thick branch, I grabbed a long strap out of my bag and tied him to the tree. Facing up so he wouldn't have to see the ground.

 "What if it breaks and I fall out?" "It won't I've done this before." I patted him on the shoulder "You'll be fine." He looked at me half heartedly before I climbed back down.

 When I got down I ran over to retrieve Shadow who was in my backpack propped up against a tree. When I picked it up I could feel her squirming inside. "What?" I asked her. She whined in response.

 I pondered her behavior and all that I know about dogs. "Hmmm maybe you have to go to the bathroom." I grabbed another strap out of my bag and tied it around her neck. It was a little loose so it wouldn't choke her.

 I picked her up and set her on the ground. She sniffed in my direction and pointed her nose to the ground. She turned her head to look at me again and then sprinted off. Well I shouldn't say she sprinted. She ran as fast as her little feet would let her. But then I felt the strap go tight and Shadow bounced back. Along with a yelp.

 "What happened?" I heard Ryan yell. "Shhhh. I'm just letting Shadow go to the bathroom." "Oh ok." I shook my head and looked back down at Shadow.

 She was sitting on the ground now, like she was pouting. I laughed to myself and said "Go potty Shadow, go potty." She looked up at me, then back down and exhaled.

 "I know what will make you happy." I reached over to the food bag and tore of a piece of meat. Her nose lifted smelling the air. I knelt down and said "Here Shadow." I held out the meat as far as I could. She looked over and smelled in that direction. A growl erupted from her stomach. She ran over and gobbled the meat up.

 "There you go. Good girl." The sides of her mouth were a bit bloody. I tried to wipe it off but she saw my hand and backed away. She looked around saw a bush, went over to it, sniffed it and pee'd. It started getting windy. The wind was blowing Shadows fur up. It was blowing my hair around too.

 I went over to her and put her back in the backpack. She of course protested but I didn't care. I slung the backpack in front of my shoulders so the pack part was in front of me. I climbed up the tree nimbly til I found a thick branch. The bag Ryan was carrying was hanging on a branch. I added the food bag to that branch and strapped myself in.

 The branches were parted slightly so I could see the starry sky. It was beautiful. The stars twinkled, making the sky look magical. I sighed in contentment. Shadow sighed to. I smiled.

 What to do now I thought. I wasn't tired. My eyes stared into space. Then I felt my mind go back in time.

 "Mommy where are we going?" I said. Mommy was holding my hand, leading my down a lighted street. It was dark out. Mommy looked down at me and said "We're going to meet your father at his work." "Why?" "He's going to take us to his bosses house to eat." She explained to me. "Don't worry, they have kids you can play with them."

 "Kids?" My eyes lit up. I love playing with other kids. "I think, I know they have 1 kid. I believe your father said that they were expecting another 1." "What does that mean?" She smiled warmly and said " It means that they are having a baby but its not born yet." My face fell into confusion and I said "A baby, baby or my age?" Mommy laughed "Yes a baby, baby."

 "Oh" was all I said. I felt my mom drop my hand and pick me up. She pecked my nose. "You silly girl, your not a baby anymore." "But you call me a baby." I interjected. She stared at me with her sparkling blue eyes "Yes because your MY baby. Not a little one." I smiled and rested my head against her shoulder.

 Before you know it we arrived at my dads work. He saw us and ran over. He hugged both of us and said "There you are." He kissed mommy and took me out of her arms. "Hi daddy." He kissed my forehead "Hey sweet heart." Daddy packed us into the car and started driving. I looked out the window. There was a clear sky. "I see the big dipper!" I told my parents. Mommy looked out her window and daddy said "Good eye."

 After a few minutes daddy pulled into a driveway. There were tree's all around us. I got scared. What if something came out and got us?

 Soon the tree's cleared away to reveal a HUGE house. My mouth dropped open in awe. Daddy parked us near the house and we all got out. "This is a huge mansion." I heard mommy whisper to daddy. He nodded and lead me and mommy to the front door.

 He rang the doorbell and a woman with red short hair wearing a simple purple dress opened the door. Her belly was big. Is that the baby? I thought to myself. "Hello you must be the Lawson's." "Yes." daddy answered her. "Come in come in dinners almost ready." She led us in to a very white room. I heard mommy say "I'm so sorry I didn't know we were supposed to be dressed up."Mommy looked at the woman's purple dress. "Oh no your fine. I just didn't have anything nice to wear with this." She rubbed her protruding belly. "Congratulations." mommy said.

 "Ah Robert you showed up after all." A man came around the corner wearing a green shirt and blue jeans. His hair was brown and his face was cheerful. "Why wouldn't I." My dad came to hug the man. The man nodded to mommy and then looked at me. "Who is this?"

 "Oh this is my daughter Luna, Luna this is Mr.Lillard." "Hello Luna." He stuck his hand out and I shook it. His hands were big and they felt dry. "How old are you?" He asked me. "I'm 6 and a half." He smiled and turned toward mommy. "Nice to meet you to Mrs.Lawson." "Please call me Clarisse." Mr.Lillard smiled and lead us toward the kitchen.

 An hour and a half later

 "Well we better get going."Daddy said, watching me slowly close my eyes on the white leather couch. "Ah yes you better." Mr.Lillard smiled, watching me too. They all shook hands and daddy picked me up. "Goodbye thanks for having us." "My pleasure." Mr.Lillard said with his arm wrapped around Mrs.Lillard.

 I waved from daddy's shoulder. Hmmmm I guess they didn't have any kids. My eyes wandered around the room. Then they landed on a dark figure standing on the stairs. It was a boy.He was wearing a black T-shirt and jeans. His expression looked bored/sad? I don't know. His hair was black. I could see curls in it.

 Oh my gosh that was Ryan.
