Running it really sucks..

Were afraid to speak in case someone is listening. We didn’t run just incase someone was near. We walked in a comfortable silence; that is until now.

"Hands up!!!" At least ten men came running from the woods surrounding us. We froze in mid-step I looked at James confused why didn't he hear anything? I was suddenly grabbed from behind. The guy tried to hold me down, but with a grin on my lips I kicked my leg up and nailed him in the face he feel to the ground unconscious . I looked to my right to see Gwen struggling with a guy two times bigger than her. To my left Simon was beating a guy’s ass who looked maybe half ogre. James was nowhere in sight I turned around and there he was in the midst if it all calmly walking towards me.

Well as he made his way to me direction it was as if time stopped. He got closer and closer until we were face to face our friends battling around us with an unknown enemy. He reached up and I thought he was going to touch my face, but he slugged me in my jaw. I fell to the ground utterly shocked. James just hit me what the heck?

"Guess what Elliot... I'm not on your side," James said.

Still confused and frozen with shock I didn't react when he raised his leg up to stomp me. Then time literally did stop James was posed frozen with his foot off the ground. I looked around everyone else was frozen too except for me, Simon, and Gwen.

I knew Simon had used an hour glass spell it stopped time for about 45 minutes to an hour. Without a second thought I grabbed Gwen and Simmons hands and ran farther into the woods.

"El what happened back there?" Gwen asked.

"James had decided who he's playing for in this game of cat and mouse." I answered through clenched teeth.

Simon stopped suddenly yanking me and Gwen to a clumsy halt.

"Why did you stop?" Gwen asked.

"Yea why?" I agreed.

"Why are we doing this?"

"Doing what?" I asked.

"Running."

"Well Simon there's nothing else we can do." Gwen said.

"Yes there is."

"And what is that?" I countered.

"We can fight back."

"Simon we can't fight them back we have no clue how many there are that could be just ten percent of their population coming after us like that." I said.

"Simon not knowing and running in blind we could end up dead." Gwen said.

"I know I know but it was an idea." He said. We were quiet for a moment before Gwen broke the silence.

"Soooooo where to now we can't go to Simons in Texas because James knows about that."

"I don't know Gwen." I said.

"Maybe we could give the academy a shot?" Simon suggested.

"We don't know where they stand or even if they know about this."

"We won't know unless we go and find out." Gwen countered.

"Its still a risk I'm not willing to take Gwen!"

"Well I'm going and you can either come or stay,“ Gwen said firmly. We stared each other down for a second until Simon cleared his throat awkwardly ending our sisterly dispute.

"Ellie I agree with Gwen they could help us," He said.

"Well..... I....really...I really shouldn't let you guys go without me."

They let out a victory yell and we made or way in the direction of the highway.

"Off to Virginia we go," I said the unknown lying before us.
