Chapter 9: Refueling

After the movie ended you slowly got up off the couch and stretched, Travis had fallen asleep halfway through the movie and was still out now. You then walked to your bunk and picked up your phone and decided to call your house and give your parents the update you had promised. You find your home phone and hit send as you lie down on your bed. They picked up after two rings and you gave them a quick run through of the past week and some of the events of today. They gave you a quick insight to what was going on on their side of the world after you finished your stories you decided to let them go first next time because it sounded like they felt that their stories sounded insignificant compared to the stories you gave them of the tour so far, and you didn't want your parents feeling that way. In fact, you absolutely loved the stories about your dogs stirring up problems and all the goofy things they did. After talking for about half an hour you finally hung up and carefully rolled over to get out of your bunk. Thankfully, you took a second before swinging your legs out to doublecheck your surroundings or else you would've hit Travis, who was standing directly infront of your bunk.

"Hey darling." he said with a smile, "do you wanna eat some dinner or something?" "Yeah, sure." you say, realizing how hungry you were. So you both make your way into the lounge and you crouch down to get a microwavable chicken pot pie that you had bought on the last Wal-Mart run out of the freezer. You absently fiddle with the box while you wait for Nerd Rock's hot pocket to finish cooking. After he gets his food out you pop in the pot pie and cook it. You ate your food sitting at the table and watching the guys who had either already eaten or weren't eating yet play Halo 4 on the mode where you can create your own map, so they kept flying around and dropping things on each other and just messing around.

After you finish eating you looked out the window and realized it was still raining, though not as hard as it had been back in New Orleans. The rain makes you feel even more tired than you are already, so you decide to just go ahead and go to sleep. As you're about to climb into your bunk, Travis calls you from the back lounge, where he had eaten his dinner. He pats the spot next to him on the couch and so you sit down. After you sit down he looks over to the door and decides to slide it shut. When he gets up you notice a guitar case lying on the ground and assume he had been writing again. Once he sits back down he looks you in the eye and pulls you closer to him and says, "You know I love you right?" "Of course I know you do Travis, why wouldn't I?" you reply. He sighs and says, "I don't know why I asked...I just did. I've probably just been thinking too much today." "Don't worry Trav," you comfort him, "we love each other and that's all that really matters." "Yeah." he says smiling again as you give him a kiss. You slowly let out a huge yawn after that. "Tired much sweetheart?" Travis asks you, laughing, as you snuggle into him. "Just a little bit," you answer, "I blame the rain." You feel him laugh as you shut your eyes and he whispers, "Good night beautiful, I'll keep you safe right here."

When you wake up the bus is stopped and it's dark outside, Travis is still awake too, he had been playing with your hair. You smile at him before getting up and looking out the window. You're at a truck stop, all three buses were filling up and anyone who was up was inside buying stuff. "You wanna go in?" Travis asks you. "Yeah, why not" you answer. So you both grab money and walk off the bus then into the shop and start looking around. Charles, Danny, and Yoshi are all in one aisle talking, Alex and Vic are walking around in opposite directions. You walk through the aisles, hand in hand with Travis, looking for some sort of snack food, but you aren't exactly sure what. You come across an aisle full of chip type things and end up buying Cheez-Its, pizza flavored Combos, and cheddar flavored Combos. After picking these up you remembered that you were running low on gum, which you had packed a three-pack of before you left home, so you start looking around for that, knowing you had seen it on one of the other aisles earlier. You find it and grab several different flavors before going to check out.

You pay for the food and take the bag from the cashier. You're about to walk out when you almost run into Vic, who had some food and beer. "Sorry!" you say, blushing. "It's ok." Vic says, giving you a smile, "Are you doing ok?" "A lot better now, thank you." you reply. "Soo...what're you planning to do once we get back on the road?" he says. "Probably just going to go back to sleep, why?" "Just wondering, Danny wanted me to play Halo 4 with him, I said maybe, I don't usually play video games all that much." "Alright then, well, if you do join Danny, I'll be asleep." you say with a laugh.

Vic goes to pay for the stuff he was buying and you walk out to the bus. Once on the bus you pull out your backpack and put everything you just got in it before climbing into your bunk. The bus was fueled up now, the driver was just waiting for everyone to get out of the store, which meant he was just waiting for Travis now, You had seen Charles and Danny leave earlier, Yoshi following soon after. While you're laying there you hear the door open and shut and Vic saying, "Alright, who wants to play Halo?" You quietly chuckle as you roll over in your bunk, trying to get comfortable, thinking, 'sleeping on Travis earlier was much more comfortable.' The next thing you hear is Travis walking on the bus and saying some sort of greeting to everyone in the front lounge, slightly garbled as you're quickly falling back asleep. The last thing you hear is his bunk's curtain getting tugged open and shut as Travis climbs into his bunk, and then, you're out.
