Chapter 22

Kieran and Joshua were on their way to meet with Jarrell to celebrate his twenty-first birthday. Not long after arriving at the party, Kieran realised she left Jarrell's birthday card in the car and returned to get it, only to bump into Darren.

She cursed. Was he ever going to get out of her life?

Maybe it's an omen the baby is his... shit.

It had been two weeks since she had the amniocentesis, but had not yet been called in for the results. Darren stared at her stomach. Kieran ignored him and walked off.

"What's wrong?" Joshua asked when he saw her not too happy facial expression once she had re-joined him.

"Darren's here." she grumbled.

"I'll break his neck if he says anything stupid," Joshua threatened.

"No, you won't," Kieran told him, "You don't have to fight to defend my honour. If he wants to be an asshole, let him, okay?"

"Yes boss," he teased.

Shortly after, Chantelle and Christina arrived. "About time," Kieran said.

"I noticed Darren's here, has he said anything?" Chantelle asked.

"No, it's only a matter of time, I don't know how he manages to get invites to places where no one likes him, it's like he does it on purpose just to torture me." Kieran complained..

"I wouldn't put it past him." Chantelle said shaking her head.

"What did J say?" Christina asked.

"He said he'd break his neck if he tries anything."

"So will we. I see he's still with Miss Bitch," Chantelle added.

"Yep, I guess that's how he wormed his way in. Melanie's sister and Jarrell are friends." Kieran told them.

"I hope she's not like her sister," Chantelle said raising her eyebrows.

Kieran sighed; Melanie was the least of her worries.

As Kieran expected, when she was alone, Darren approached her and asked, "Were you planning on telling me you are pregnant?"

"No." she replied curtly.

"Why not?"

"What has it got to do with you?" Kieran asked turning to face him.
