{A/N: I'm so sorry I haven't updated I started school this week and I've been stressed and anxious about it. I didn't have much time to write so forgive me, please. I should be able to update more regularly now but I can't make any promises.}
Dean and Cas woke up early and rushed to take turns showering, getting dressed and eating breakfast. Dean styled his hair like he always did and dropped Adam off for his first day of first grade, Sam and Gabe off for their first day of eighth grade and finally he parked his car in the high school parking lot.
Cas looked like he was going to pass out when they walked into the crowded cafeteria. He wrapped his arms around his body and stared intently at the ground, not saying a word. Dean watched him shuffle between his feet before pulling him into the less crowded hallway. He had never believed in social anxiety, he had always thought it was just an excuse for people to not talk. But seeing Cas clam up and freak out internally made him rethink his previous opinions.
"Hey, Cas. Everything's going to be fine. The people here don't really care about everyone else unless they're directly affecting them in some way. Don't worry, they'll like you."
"It's not that I'm worried they won't like me, it's just... I don't like to be social. I'm afraid I'll mess it up."
"Okay, I'm not going to tell you that you have to become popular or anything like that because I know you don't care for it. So I'm just going to ask you to talk to one person in every class, okay? I'm going to ask you to please, for me, just talk to someone. You don't have to make friends just say hello, okay?"
"I'll try, for you."
"I don't count. If we have any classes together I don't count as that one person."
"I kind of figured."
And the bell rang. Dean walked Cas to his first class, figures it would be an advanced class, and then walked across the hall to his.
Cas's POV:
Cas walked into his first class of the day, Advanced History. He sat down in the middle of the room and played with a bracelet on his wrist.
"Can I sit here?" A familiar voice asked.
"Charlie! Of course you can!"
"Thanks, Cas. Hey, how's Dean?"
"He's good, we're good. You're my person for this class, okay?"
"Your person?"
"I promised Dean to talk to one different person in each class."
"Alright. I'm your person."
The class passed slowly, Cas was introduced to the class and then the bell rang and off Cas walked to find his second class. He walked down the stairs and found room 113. Cas walked in and sat at a table off to the side of the room, alone. Charlie came in and sat next to him again. A few other kids came in and one of them sat across from him.
"You must be new."
"Yeah, I just moved here."
"Ah. Name's Kevin. Kevin Tran. I think I saw you last period in Advanced Placement, Castiel, right?"
"Yeah."
"Tell me something about yourself."
"I'm gay."
"That works."
"You don't hate me?"
"It doesn't matter to me, what you do in your free time is none of my business, unless you try doing it with me."
Charlie and Kevin talked for most of the class while Cas just tried to keep in mind what Sports Medicine would be all about. All he remembered was that at some point he would be job shadowing the school's medical trainee on the football field and helping him tend to the sports injuries.
He walked into his third class of the day, Honor's English, and sat in the back. He watched a few people come in the classroom and sighed when a bunch of jocks came in and sat down, showing no intelligence and zero work ethic. A small blonde with really short hair came in and sat next to him, introducing herself as Vicky.
"You're new, huh?"
"Yeah, hey I like your hair."
"Thanks."
Cas talked to her a bit through the class. He learned that she loves horror movies and that she's just as big a nerd as him. When the bell rang they walked together to Spanish, where they sat in different seats. She sat next to a group of rude looking girls and he sat across from a girl who smiled and winked at him, and introduced herself as Meg.
Cas talked to Meg throughout the class and then he went to lunch. Cas found Dean and walked up to him, shyly tapping his shoulder. Dean turned away from his friend and smiled widely at Castiel.
"Hey, Cas. How's your first day so far?"
"Um, it's going okay, yours?"
"Mine's going fine, hey you wanna go get something to eat?"
Cas nodded and they started to walk away when one of Dean's friends grabbed Cas's shoulder and spun him around, looking him up and down before laughing and looking to Dean.
"Winchester you friends with this nerd or is it a dare?"
"He's my boyfriend. And I think you owe him an apology."
Cas blushed and accepted the apology this kid stuttered out before he walked away and Dean took him to lunch at a diner before they came back to the school and were welcomed back by a kid named Crowley at the front doors.
"Welcome to Hell, boys."
"Hi, Crowley."
"Hello, Dean, Cas. Have a fun rest of your day suffering."
Dean laughed a little and Cas smiled as they walked into the school. Dean gave him a quick kiss before he left to get to his class. Castiel spent the rest of his day talking to at least one new person in each class and grabbing all the papers he needed signed from each class.
When school was out Cas met Dean at the front doors, where a girl was twirling a strand of dark hair around her finger and winking at him. She skipped off as Cas walked up and Dean scowled.
"She doesn't seem to get the fact that I'm in a relationship."
"What's her name?"
"Lisa. I mean she's nice and all but she needs to understand that I don't want her."
Cas just hummed and kept walking, getting in the Impala and sitting quietly while Dean played music softly in the background. They picked up Sam and Gabriel and then Adam before heading home and starting homework. Cas finished his and put on pajamas, crawling into bed and cuddling into the soft blankets. He soon felt the bed dip and Dean slide in next to him before cuddling up next to him and shutting off the lamp next to the bed.
