I looked around the corner tentatively. Coast clear. I walked into the living room and set down a plastic box with medical supplies and a bowl of hot soup.

"Now, let me see that ankle... That is er.. if you want to let me look at it." I said awkwardly. Surprisingly she gave a little noise of amusement. She gave me her ankle and I took an ice pack and ace wrap. I wrapped it up snugly and propped it up into a pillow. Then I handed her the bowl.

"Careful.. It's a little hot." After moments of silence I spoke. "So do you have a name? I've been calling you 'the girl'."

"Cas..." She whispered. Cas took a mouthful of soup and looked at me. "W-Why are you doing this..?" She choked out.

"Because I'm not in it for the girl I'm in it for the person. You're nice, Cas. Interesting person to know, I guess." I kicked up my feet as I sat down in a chair on the opposite side of the top to give Cas space. "Where do you want me to take you home?"

"Uh... I-I don't know. My family doesn't really like me..." Cas replied in a hushed tone.

"Oh... Sorry to hear... You can crash here. My brother won't be home at all this week but that also means that we don't have a car."

"I-I'm capable of walking thank you very much." She shot defensively.

"Okay yes that'll be fine. I have crutches if that gets worse." I said "I'll leave you the remote and I can go get the guest room ready." I nodded and grabbed the silver remote, handing it to her. I also grabbed her black pants, hoping to throw them into the wash.

Walking down the hallway, I stopped at the closest door and went through the doorway, stepping into the yellow wallpapered room. The bed had been made for weeks and all the drawers were cleaned out. Not that Cas would need drawers anyways.

Like I intended, I put the pants into the washer and flipped it to on. Lastly I went to check on Cas.

"How you holdin up short stack?" I stopped by the couch and gathered the bowl from the coffee table.

She nodded, that's all.

"Ready for sleep? I am but you are welcome to stay up and watch TV if you would prefer that."

"No. I'll come to sleep..." She said and got up. I grabbed her arm gently helping her steady but she pulled away from me in fear and started hopping along down the hallway until I told her where to turn.

"Here you are, luxury suite!" I joked. No response. "Tough crowd." I whispered under my breath.

I wandered into the room. It was so much nicer than mine mainly because I don't have a dresser or a very sturdy bed. I kinda just slept where ever.

"T-Thanks..." I murmured quietly and then went to sit on the bed. It was nice and soft. I ran my fingers over the soft blue quilt covering the mattress.

"Okay I think you're set. If you need anything I'm in the other room. Bathroom is down the hall and there's food in the kitchen if you wanna late night snack. Good night, Cas." Dean said and nodded before he left the door arch.

I stared after him, my heart wanting him to come back. This place... It was weird. Much nicer than my own. Why did it feel normal then?

I laid on the bed in my soft black T-shirt. I pulled the covers up over my shoulders and quickly, I fell asleep.

"Cas..." A voice whispered. "Caaaaas." It said again. It was soft and tentative. Then a hand placed on my shoulder and I flinched away, eyes wild with terror.

Dean stared back at me, his gaze steady and understanding.

"Sorry to wake you but you have school today... I mean we both have school. I washed and dried your pants so you didn't have to wear my giant pants. As for the shirt, you can wear that and I have a school sweatshirt if you're interested."

I nodded slowly and glanced up at him. There were no words for a couple minutes. I tore my eyes away from his and went to stand up. Immediate pain shot up my leg and I screeched a little and sat down again.

"I-I might have something to help that." Dean left and didn't come back for a couple moments. Then he walked back through the door, holding a white and blue padded splint.

"My brother needed it last summer." Dean laughed, smiling as though he remembered the memory. "May I?"

I nodded and when he wasn't looking I smiled a little. He was so kind and respectful. Not like the others. He was different- a good different.

He slipped it over my ankle carefully and strapped the two velcro strips all the way around. Then he got up and pulled crutches from the hallway.

"Try these." I got up and I shifted over them. They were a little tall but fit all right I guess.

We sat at the table and he poured milk into a cereal bowl.

"Thanks." I mumbled as he set it down on the table. I rubbed at my eyes and then took a bite of the cinnamon toast crunch.

I watched her fondly as she hopped through the doors. Now I had double the weight whilst carrying her books.

"Cas wait!" I called forgetting how my legs worked for a second. She stopped lurching forward and turned back to me. Her head was down slightly and her hair laid over her shoulders.

"D-Do you want me to carry this around for you all day? I-I can assist you to your classes." I suggested.

She nodded and little. What was that I saw..? A small smile possibly?

The rest of the day was great, though of course I bared the weight of a girl in college level courses all day.

"I can walk you home."

"Dean you've done so much already. I'll get a ride trust me." She whispered great fully.

I nodded. "Are you su-"

"Yes." She cut me off, her blue eyes glimmering.

I strapped her backpack over her shoulders and started to leave. "Bye Cas." I smiled over my shoulder. Immediately I heard whispers coming from others around me and I looked over my shoulder to see a couple boys trying to help her. They'd done that all day; take her books and binders out of my arms, open doors, ect.

I felt emptyness beside me. She'd been with me for the past day and a half, and to be honest, I already miss the blue eyed girl. I'll make her see, the world isn't bad like she thinks. She doesn't need to be afraid. Now was the next step of the plan; get my Impala back.
