[Dean]

I sat at the kitchen table gobbling down leftover spaghetti while I listened to Sam share about how his day went.

"Well I got an A on my trimester exam and I met a girl named Gabriela who's new. She moved here with her sister. She's in your grade I think." My little brother said.

I glanced up from my meal to look at Sam. "Hmm.. Looks? Name?"

"Heck if I know! We talked for like three minutes." Sam smiled as if it were a very fond memory.

"You like this chick don't you Sammy?" I laughed, eyeing him.

"I didn't say that, Dean! I'm going to my room to do homework." He got up and I watched him walk out of the kitchen, his bag clutched in his arms.

"Don't be up all night texting Gabriela!" I called after him playfully.

"Yeah yeah whatever!" A muffled shout came from the other room.

I walked into school sluggishly. I had a hard time sleeping last night, things just kept popping into my brain.

I trudged in, turning down the way I needed to go. As I turned the sharp corner I ran into the same girl I lent the umbrella to. Her binders and books scattered everywhere.

"Sorry!" I said kinda loud and leaned down to help pick up the books. She didn't look up at me once but I saw her cheeks flushed a light pink.

I got up and handed the books to her lightly and she took them.

The world stopped. Everything stopped. The people walked slower. They were blurred. The only thing that was training through my mind was her eyes staring into mine. My insides fluttered like mad. I felt like my stomach might burst out of my abdomen.

In seconds, it was gone as a crowd came, ripping me away as they pushed through the hallways. She was lost to me. I strained through the crowd trying to get one last glimpse of her face. Nothing. Pure. Nothing.

Later I met Garth in our first class.

"Dude! You look encrazed! You okay?" Garth stared at me but I was highly distracted, half not hearing his words. Her face was glued into my head and I felt light headed.

"I'm fine..." I managed to mutter.

"Okay whatever you say, Dean." He sat back down. I slid into the chair beside him, staring at the board with a blank expression across my face.

The rest of the day was a blur. I don't think I actually learned anything, just stared at stuff.

Finally at one point in the day, lunch came and by then I was pretty much okay. Garth had stopped trying to ask me questions after he found out that I wasn't going to answer them.

I sat down next to Garth with a soft pretzel and some Arizona tea. Skimpy lunch but I didn't care, I didn't eat a lot anyways unless the school had pie on the menu.

"Dean! Listen to me! You are acting really freaky and I need an explanation. Now!" Garth basically shook my shoulders, making my brain boggle inside my skull.

"Jesus, Garth. I ran into the girl today and we kinda 'had a moment' so you would say." I replied.

"Oh yeah like I'm going to believe that."  Garth retorted, rolling his eyes unimpressed.

Then I spotted her sitting down, a flock of three jocks sitting closer to her, again going for a flirting encounter.

"Don't they know when to back off? She's had enough if they can't tell!" Fury bubbled up inside me and my feet prickled.

"Well... Tell 'em off, Prince Charming." Garth scoffed, laughing at me.

"Oh shut up you sonavabitch." I turned back towards him and said no more. Then what I did was actually surprising considering my state. I walked over to the jocks and basically told them off like Garth said.

"Hey!" I shouted when I got to the table. "Can't you see she's nervous you assholes! You should go, you're not getting anywhere if she's not interested. Shoo!" I growled. I'm happy I was dominant. These saps just joined the team and their letterman jackets didn't even have a patch yet.

The girl glanced up at me. She looked purely frightened and cringed away when I took a step closer. She was clinging onto her backpack, basically no food on her tray.

"I'm sorry I didn't catch your name...?" I whispered.

"M-my name." She murmured quietly, just over inaudible. She finish her sentence.

She looked down, not making eye contact with me.

"Well I'm Dean. Dean Winchester." I said and held out my hand.

I don't think she was very sure of my gesture and she twiddled her fingers. I could sense she was nervous and scared.

"Do you want to come eat with me and my friend? You won't be too lonely." I asked gently, sitting down in the seat beside her.

She shook her head slowly. "I'm sorry... I-" she didn't finish her sentence. She looked like she might explode if she opened her mouth to speak again.

"Alright. Whatever make you more comfortable." I sighed and walked back to Garth.

"Way to go tiger!" Garth joked, punching me lightly in the arm.

I watched him leave, my fingers ran nervously over the fabric on my backpack and I stared uninterested at a carton of milk and unappetizing chicken fingers.

Dare I look up? No. Simone might notice me, try to talk to me. I just can't. I just can't talk to people. They make my anxiety act up and I haven't spoken a word to anyone, anyone other than Dean Winchester.

I don't get it. Everyone is very flattering but they've done nothing for me. But Dean? He cares what I'm going through.

Whatever makes you comfortable...

His words drew through my head over and over.

He was different. He was kind like the others but he helps. Like the time he gave me his umbrella, picked up my books, and just now shooed off all those stupid boys who try to talk to me. I don't get why they do. I'm not normal. I can't even start a conversation let alone actually talk to someone for more than two minutes.

Dean. Dean Winchester

His voice was deep and manly but his heart was sweet.

My toes tingled. I blinked a lot of times, anxiety flushing over me and crashing on me like a wave. That was it... I just can't talk to anyone... I'll only get hurt and I'll hurt them...
