***One Year Later***
"Avery, come on. You don't want to be late for school, do you? You'll make new friends and everything."
I just looked at my father with my I'm getting up look. Once he left the room, I sighed and sat up from bed. Looking around the room seeing boxes, clearly shows that we had just moved.
I didn't bother to change my clothes, I just put on a fresh hoody over the clothes I wore yesterday.
"I'm ready." I said rushing down the stair so my dad would grab the keys.
"I'll be in the car."
"Right behind you."
Rushed out the front door, then hoped in the passenger seat.
"You locked the front door, right?" My dad asked.
"Yes sir." I lied; I just wanted to get this day over with.
He dropped me off at the front of my new school that I have to register myself. Usually, my mother registers me; my dad doesn't know what exactly to do, so therefore I have to register myself. I know the basics, but not everything.
"Love you. I'll pick you up at 2:45." My father said.
And I answered,"Okay."
I picked up my backpack and sighed, as I stared at the front doors of RidgeWay High School. Then, I got the courage to walk inside to the front office.
"May I help you?" The women by the computer asked, as she typed on the computer.
"I'm here to register myself." I mumbled.
"Here you go." She handed me a thin packet of papers to fill out.
It was about 6-7 pages long. Most of it I recognized from when my mom would register me. Name.... D.O.B..... Guardian's Name..... Address..... Phone Number..... Emergency Contact Number.... Etc..... Eventually I finished and gave it back to the lady. She scanned through the papers to make sure I didn't skip over anything, she started to type something's into the computer. And a piece of paper was printed out.
"Here's your schedule. Your first class, three halls down on the right, and first door on the left. Your teacher's name should be Ms. Smith in room number 473. If not ask someone for help. Okay have a good day Hun."
I grabbed my schedule, and walked three halls down, and turned right. I looked on the left for room number 473, and "Ms. Smith's class" was written on a poster taped to the door. I knocked on the door two times before Ms. Smith opened the door.
"Yes?" She asked.
I handed her my schedule. She looked at it the said,"Take an open seat."
I walked into the room, and everyone stared. I saw only one open seat and walked to it, then sat down.
Ms. Smith walked up to me and handed me a quiz. I didn't understand it one bit. I couldn't tell what it was. I know I was in World Geography, but I never learned this stuff in it at my old school.
The bell rang and I handed her my paper back then walked out the class. I was looking at my schedule when someone bumped into me.
"Hey watch where your going!" I almost immediately said forgetting its not my old school anymore.
"Damn. Nice first impression ay? I hope your not as much as a bitch as you just acted."
"Excuse me?" I snapped.
"I feel bad for your mother. She must of not taught you any better. Did she?"
My heart dropped when he said mother. My eyes watered. But I fought back the tears. I couldn't say anything. My throat tightened up. My mouth was moving, but nothing seemed to come out. So I looked back at my schedule, then tried my best to find my class.
When I found it I was barely a few minutes late.
"Everyone we have a new student. Her name is Avery Adams." Mr. Matthews said to the class, which made and everyone turn in there seats and stare at me.
"Avery, you need a Biology partner.... Connor, raise your hand." Mr. Matthews said, then I turned to see Connor. With his hand raised up,"Thats your partner."
Oh boy. This is going to be a good year.
I walked over to the desks and sat down.
"Well then." He murmured under his breathe.
"I'm sorry. I forgot it's not my old school. I didn't mean to be so rude. I'm new here." I said, hoping Conner would forgive me from earlier.
"I'm sorry too. I had a bad night." He said back to me.
"How?" I asked because I was curious.
"I don't wanna talk about it. It's kinda personal. And we kinda just met. I just don't know you good enough yet." Connor said very soft in a whisper tone.
"I understand." I said.
