After a while, Lukas had settled into Mathias' apartment, though, he still felt bad for taking the other's bed. Though, that wasn't his fault, Mathias had insisted and his boss said the Norwegian had to if he wanted to stay with his doctor.
Mathias had ordered some Chinese for dinner and the two had watched a movie while they ate. It was quiet for the most part, though Mathias had some comments about the movie. Lukas on the other hand, wasn't paying attention. He was actually thinking about what Mathias had said about his friends dying in a car wreck. That must have been terrible. Though, from what he remembered of the earlier conversation, the Dane seemed to be upset about the topic.
Once the two had finished dinner, Mathias excused himself for a well deserved shower. While he had alone time, Lukas got out his journal. He kept one so he could remember names, good memories, anything else like that. Kind of like a thirteen year old's diary. He began writing.
Journal, September 15, 2015
Today I was released from the hospital. Though it was quite early. My doctor (Dr. Mathias Kohler) offered for me to stay with him. This was so I could leave. That place only brought me more pain. It was terrible.
Emil finally moved off to Hong Kong with Leon and he's been quite...busy I suppose. He hasn't spoken with me much, but he always goes with Leon to his meetings. I guess he has a job with Leon now? I'm not sure. Anyway, he seems happy, so that makes me feel better.
Luckily, my new shots have been working better. I don't have to take my Klodpin much more. Well, I still do for pain, but not as often.
Back to my doctor. He lives alone and has this hair that seems to defy gravity. It's odd, but I find him cute. Though, anything like that would cause him to lose his job...well at least until I'm his patient. Which, I'm supposing will be quite a while.
Anyhow, I'm getting plenty tired, so I'll be gone for now.
As Always,
Lukas Bondviek
Lukas had gotten comfortable on the couch after a few minutes. He began to read, becoming more tired each second. After a while, he passed out, still reading. He snored softly, book on his chest.
Eventually, Mathias had gotten dressed and came downstairs to check on Lukas, only to find his dozing away. The Dane smiled softly, picking his patient up, walking slowly to his room, laying him down. He tucked the Norwegian, taking his clip out of his hair for him. He went back downstairs for a while and sat on the couch for a while, watching the news.
He was glad for his time off, it was nice for a change.
Around midnight, Mathias turned off the lights, grabbing a blanket, lying on the couch. He yawned, getting under the covers. After he got comfortable, he smiled. The Dane was glad to see Lukas had settled in well.
Though as soon as he shut his eyes, his phone went off. Of course he answered.
"This is Dr. Mathias Kohler, whom may I be speaking to?"
"Mathias, this is Alfred. We got the results back from Lukas' tests," the voice answered.
"Oh, what did they turn out to be? Is he fine?"
"It seems his medications are slowing down the illnesses disease, though, the progression shows he won't be walking much longer. Well, unless he defies all logical senses again, such as before. His seizure should have killed him."
"Yes, Alfred, I know that. We can't tell him though, it'll ruin him. I see his sadness already. It's terrible," Mathias looked down.
"Yes, but remember, your life comes after his, so don't become so stressed with helping him. You'll need a break sometime, I know you will. How about we go drinking Friday?"
"I can't just leave Lukas and he shouldn't have any alcohol with all his medication, they're already messing up his liver."
"He could come and just like...I don't know," Alfred suggested.
"I'll have to see, but it's late and I don't want to wake him. This is my first day off in almost a year, so, can I please sleep? It sounds nice," and as if on cue, he yawned.
"Sure, dude. But, just saying, sleep is for losers."
"You are still a doctor right?" Mathias inquired.
"Well, yeah, why?"
"Then you should know, sleep helps your brain function."
"Yup! I know."
"Then, why don't you sleep?"
"Like I said, it's for losers!"
"Yeah, whatever," Mathias rolled his eyes, "Good night."
"Night bro," Alfred hung up and Mathias put away his phone, curling up again.
But, he couldn't sleep. Something kept him up. He sat up, thinking.
Alfred made it seem like drinking and staying up could never hurt you. Mathias thought this was stupid. Sleep helps function, it helps thinking, it helps your body. Drinking ruins you, gives you liver cancer, cirrhosis, all those bad things. It could kill not only you, but someone else. The Dane knew this first hand, so it scared him.
He'd go with Alfred to make sure he was safe. Maybe, Al would bring a friend, so Lukas wouldn't be all alone.
Anyhow, he was getting to think about Lukas a bit. He found the boy...attractive..? No, that would be wrong, illegal actually. But, you can't always stop how your heart feels, but you can ignore it. Though, that may only bring pain.
Lukas knew he liked Mathias from the moment he met him. The Dane was just now accepting his feelings, even though he knew they were wrong. But in a situation when, by law, this could never happen, you would think, why can't love be love?
But, breaking laws? When you're a world known doctor, you don't want people to hear that.
So, what could they even do?
