Mathias had finally gotten to sleep when his co-doctor was able to fill in for him.

Though, even then, he only got an hour or two of solid sleep. The Dane never had good sleep in the hospital, it always gave him bad dreams. From patients he couldn't save.

Though, on the other hand, Lukas had just woken up and was attempting to stretch. It was hard, seeing as he was still on the heart monitor and had an IV in his arm.

He managed to pop his back, which relieved a lot of pressure, but hurt badly.

The Norwegian had no clue what to do, so he decided to call his brother for the day.

He grabbed his phone and dialed the number.

"This is Emil Steilsson, whom may I be speaking with?"

"Oh, so proper now little brother?" Lukas snickered.

"Oh, hey. Sorry, Leon said I should start answering the phone like that...he's weird."

"See, this is why you need to live with me still," Lukas said, jokingly.

"Yeah, sure," anyone could tell that Emil rolled his eyes as he said that. "What's up?"

"Well, hopefully, I get released today. My doctor is going to let me stay at his house, so I can go adventuring. He called it a slumber party, that isn't a slumber party," Lukas explained. "You?"

"Well, Leon has a presentation, so I have to be there and that's at one. Then, we were invited to a dinner party at his coworkers house, and afterwards he's planning a surprise or something. I'm not too sure," Emil stated.

"Just stay safe. Don't let him be too rough on you," Lukas snickered.

"LUKAS! THAT'S NOT WHAT HE'S GOING TO DO!!!"

"How do you know? Tell him to be protected, so you can still walk tomorrow," Oh, did he love messing with his brother.

"You're gross Luka, your just gross."

"Eh, it happens," as he said that, Mathias appeared in the doorway.

"Hey, Em, I have to go, the doctor's here," Lukas said, almost sadly.

He hated this part of the phone calls.

"Okay, but call me as soon as you can. Love you, stay safe big brother," Emil said.

"I will, you too. Love you, bye," Lukas hung up, setting his phone aside.

Dr. Køhler looked at his patient, smiling, "Was that your brother?" He asked, going over his papers from last night.

"Yes," Lukas watched the Dane's every move.

"You sounded happy."

"What makes you say that?" Lukas countered.

"Well, you were snickering," Mathias shrugged.

"Well, Emil's boyfriend and I have little jokes," Lukas shrugged. "What did your boss say?"

Dr. Køhler smiled, "He said yes, but under the condition, you have to come to work with me, you sleep in the bed and I on the couch, and you had a routine check in with him."

Lukas looked at him, "I can't barge into your house and take your bed, that's rude," he scoffed.

"Would you rather stay in a hospital all day?" Mathias inquired.

"No."

"Then, you get to sleep on my bed!" He smiled.

"Fine," Lukas sighed.

Dr. Køhler walked over, "Don't tense up, relax," he said, taking the IV out, putting on a bandage and then quickly wrapping it.

Lukas wasn't bothered, he shrugged, "I have injections once a week, that literally kill the skin around the hit spot, do you think getting an IV out hurts anymore?"

Mathias just looked at him, "That reminds me, we have to stop at your house so you can get what you need, such as clothes, chargers, medication."

Lukas nodded, "Okay."

It became quick for a minute. Well, until a scream came piercing through the hospital.

Mathias quickly jumped up, "I'll be right back!" He yelled, running to the location of the sound.

It seemed to be a female, about the age of 17, she seemed to have a baby in her arms.

Mathias ran up to her, "Ma'am, what's wrong?"

"M-my baby..." She looked at the child, disgusted.

Mathias looked down at the child and saw, right off the bat.

Down syndrome.

The poor child. The baby was maybe a day or two old and its mother already disowned it.

The women shoved the child into Dr. Køhler's arms, grabbed her purse and walked out, without another word.

Mathias stared at her, in disbelief.

Then, he realized, he was holding a child. He quickly moved his arms so that he was properly holding the child, supporting its head and neck.

The baby was crying, so the Dane was trying to stop it, rocking and shushing.

He started to sing lullabies and soon the baby stopped crying.

Mathias walked up to the receptions desk and sighed.

The nurse looked up, "Another abandoned?" That's what they call the children left.

Mathias nodded, "Down syndrome," he sighed, looking at the child. "I wish they'd stop, just because their child is disformed, doesn't mean they don't need love."

"You know, you could keep the kid Matt, raise it to be a great person," the nurse suggested.

"I know, but I want to be the parent always there for a child, and with this shift I have, that couldn't happen," Mathias sighed, looking at the kid again.

"Well, I'll bring him down to the children's unit and if you change your mind, just find me, okay?" The nurse inquired.

"Of course, how could in forget about so a cutie," of course, Dr. Køhler was talking of the child.

He handed the infant over yo the nurse and waved as she took the child to the other bay of the hospital.

Mathias sighed and grabbed his water from behind the desk, taking a drink.

Yes, he was upset that such a child with the potential of the world in his hand, had been abandoned.

But, he smiled, because he knew someone would find the child and treat it as their own.

Those are the parents it deserves.

Dr. Køhler smiled, walking back into Lukas' room.

"Ready?" He questioned.

"As ready as I'll ever be," Lukas replied.
