The council was very secretive about their place because we were officially in the middle of no where in the woods. I was sure of that.
"Great now we are lost in the woods, you know Mira you're the vampire get us out" Gage said impatiently.
"You know Gage patience is the key when it comes to these situations. Hate to break it to you but you are doing terribly my friend" I said looking around. "Plus I would have heard cars if there was a highway near and we also live in the south where big cities aren't a thing."
Gage gave off an annoyed look I could tell. Leave it to Bella when it comes to bringing up random conversations to fulfill the gaps of silence.
"You know I was once a Girl Scout, I could probably become handy in this situation" she was with a big smile.
I couldn't help but smile at that moment because my best friend is willing to help and was optimistic at a time like this. While Gage was the other way around, which he shouldn't because he is with a vampire that can protect them. Oh and also with a Girl Scout apparently.
"Well, we need to find a place to sleep at and find our necessities" I said.
Gage went his way and so did Bella. I was getting really hungry all of a sudden. Being trapped in a cell without being fed and also being surrounded by vervain weakened me pretty badly. With so much adrenaline going through my body I hardly felt the thirst. If I were to tell them this information they would not trust me being around them at a time like this. I had to hunt for my own food and sadly settle for animal blood instead of a nice blood bag.
Hunting for food hasn't been something I've done since blood banks became a thing. So you could say I was a little rusty on it.
I was running and kept running to catch a simple deer and I failed epically.
"Damn it" I said to myself.
Luckily the deer had a friend and I was able to catch that one. The blood tasted bitter and pretty disgusting if you ask me. Then again blood shouldn't sound appetizing unless you are a vampire.
I arrived at our camp site and saw that Bella has achieved to build a fire and she was sitting next to Gage.
"Well where were you at? We did all the hard work!" Gage complained.
"No you didn't, I did the hard work you just supervised." Bella said rolling her eyes.
I had to tell them what I was doing. They accepted who I was, so I shouldn't hide who I am.
"I had to get a snack from a deer if I plan to be strong enough for any danger that comes to you guys." I said sitting down next to the fire.
After I had said what I was doing they were silent.
"Mira have you ever killed humans for blood?" Gage had asked.
I didn't hide it, I told them the truth.
"Yes I did, I was at a very dark place. I had lost my parents and I was alone. I made many enemies on the way and I killed many humans. That doesn't make things better, but I don't do that anymore. I settled for blood bags and that gives me the same strength as drinking from a living human being" I said looking down at the ground.
"Well you shouldn't feel ashamed Mira, we know how you are now. You rescued us when we were about to die. Not every vampire or human does that" Said Gage.
I had tears in my eyes.
