Every time I wake up, I remember Aryll. On my twelfth birthday, she woke me up. I had fallen asleep at the lookout point that my little sister called "Aryll's lookout". I sigh and sit up on my bed. Tetra lets me sleep on a bed across the room from her bed. We share a room because we have to keep secrets the rest of the pirate crew can't know about.

"Link," Tetra said when she saw that I had woken up. She was still sitting on her bed. I realized that she had probably been watching me sleep. I kept those thoughts to myself. Tetra smiles, "Good morning. We are almost to your oasis. Then we can settle down there for a few days." She gives me her snarky wink and smile.

Let me just say, after we defeated Ganondorf, our quest to find new land hadn't gone so well. We got lost for about five years. Tetra was about 14 when I met her, and now she is 19.

"Tetra, I told you, I'm not going to. We have to have the crew able to live there as well," I say this, all the while trying not to sound upset. I honestly really like Tetra, but she has always seen me as her best friend. She knows this, and she teases me at every chance possible.

"Well, that's too bad," but the sympathy in her voice is obviously fake. She smiles at me. "You did make sure that people were working on upgrading the cabana, right?" Many years ago, after we defeated Ganon, I had set sail for my cabana. I hired people to upgrade the cabana and make it bigger and I paid them in advance, for I knew I would be away for a while. Tetra met up with me at Windfall Island to sell my boat, King of Red Lions, shortly I hired the crew. My boat had stopped talking after we left the King of Hyrule in the underwater kingdom itself.

"Yes. We've gone over this many times." I stand up and walk over to my dresser and grab out my very old and faded day clothes. "And besides, it's just a cabana. It doesn't matter much." I take off my sleep shirt and put on my blue shirt with a white crayfish designed into it. I throw my sleep shirt onto my bed. "If we had to, we could even go to the Island that I was born on, Outset Island." Then I wince. I haven't heard from Grandma or Aryll in five years. I was worried about Grandma. She was old when I left her. Is she alright? Is she even alive?

"They're most likely fine," Tetra said, reading my mind. "Believe me, your old grandma is strong, she'll be fine. And with Aryll around, she'll be just fine."

"Do you mind if I visit them once we get back? After we make sure the cabana is ok?" I ask, as my concerns were not that easily soothed.

Tetra smiles. "Sure. Let's get up to the crow's nest. That way we'll be able to see how close we are." She gives me her wink and smile that I've come to call her look. Tetra stands up and leaves the cabin.

I change my pants quickly into my orange pants and put on my brown shoes and follow her to the deck.

Once I got outside, I see that it was cold. I smile. I love the Great Sea. I always have. But, now that we are so close to the place I call home, it makes me even happier.

I start to climbing the ladder. Tetra is already at the top, telling me to hurry up. I climb up as fast as I could. From what I could tell, the wind was blowing west. The oasis was coming up, getting bigger by the second.

Once I get to the top, Tetra looks at me and laughs. Apparently, I look funny. Subconsciously, I look down at myself. "What's so funny?" I demanded.

"Oh, nothing. I just can't help it. You look like you've never seen the seas. Also, you're out of breath," she smirks. She looks down at one of the members of the crew, Niko, and shouts, "Land ho! Land ho!"

Once she is done shouting commands, I grumble, "Maybe I am out of shape. Just a little. Let's get down there and see if they screwed up my oasis."

*****

Turns out, they didn't. I had this really huge underground maze in my oasis. It was pretty dark and gross. Anyway, the plan was to turn that into a bunch of empty rooms for the crew. And the top floor was to be turned into a lobby. So, when I go to open up the door to the lobby, I am expecting the worst. Of course, I am wrong (thankfully).

First of all, directly across the room. from the door, was an elevator leading to the maze. That, I realize, was where the fireplace had been. Then I look to the left, and see that someone had gotten smart and hung a shower curtain around the bathtub. I laugh. I was going to do that anyway.

When I look to the right, I smile. There is now two couches around a small table. I walk over to the table, and sit down on one of the couches. The couch is very soft, and I could just fall asleep on the couch right then and there. On the table are a few pictographs of the ocean sunset and wildflowers. The lobby was everything I wanted when I paid the company to fix this place up.

I look at Tetra who had came up next to me and sat down beside me. Her face was beaming. She looks so happy, for she and her crew now had a place to return to and call home. I smile and the feel a pain deep in my gut. I realize that it was because I am upset because I'm not the one who's making her smile. Then I feel angry at myself for feeling that way. She doesn't want me in that way, so I shouldn't care.

Some of our crew went down the elevator before Tetra and I came in. They were probably down there fighting over the same room, even though all the rooms are the same shape and size. I smile at the thought. There was a noise, and the elevator opened up. Gonzo stepped out. "Mr. Link?" I look up. "I don't know if it's of any concern, but there are a few letters in the mailbox addressed to you."

I jump up as soon as I hear this. "Thank you Gonzo!" I ran outside and checked the box. There were six letters, one from Grandma and five from Aryll, one for each year I was gone. Then I see another letter, a dark colored one. I drop all of the other letters and grab the dark one. The door opens behind me, but I don't see who it is. I slowly open the letter.

I drop the letter as soon as I read the first few lines:

Dear Link:

We are sorry to inform you of the loss you grandmother.

I realize my face is wet, but I don't remember starting crying. I slowly pick up the letter and check the date.

 It's from three years ago.
