Chapter 18:

Kendall's POV:

I change into my rugged old gym clothes that have been in my gym locker for who knows how long. I walk out noticing Mr. Trent, isn't here; we have a sub. I sat down waiting for him to finish role call. It's a sub, he could honestly care less about being here, all subs want is money; they really don't have to do anything to get it. He dismissed us to do whatever we wanted, while he sat back in his chair to read the morning newspaper. I stood in the middle of the basketball court, not knowing what I want to do. With all the extra anger I have, I might as well go to the weight room and lift some weights. I began my walk across the gym, thinking. I don't normally lift, but I guess it's my extra anger talking.

Sweat drips down my face, avoiding my eyes. My reflection looks back at me, forcing me to push through the next set. The musical stylings of Mackelmore's Can't Hold Us, pulsing through the cinder block walls. My breath hitched, my arms began to tremble. I drop the weight on the ground, just barely missing my feet. Everyone's eyes land on me. I scuff it off walking over to the fan, taking a seat. Someone sits next to me, but I don't dare look up from the padded ground.

"What's wrong, bro?" Jackson, one of my teammates asked me.

I shrug, not in the mood to talk.

"Was it Mackenzie?" He asked wiping his upper lip with his shirt.

"How the hell did you do it man?"

"Do what?"

"Break up with her, without her thinking that your still together?" I asked looking up.

"I don't know man. I just said 'Mackenzie, we're through.' and that was the end of that. She never called me or anything." He said fixing his shoe laces.

"What's her problem? It's like she can't get it through her head that I don't want to be with her!" I stomp my feet on the ground, acting like a 5 year old not getting his juice box.

"I don't know how to help you, bro. But what I would do, is show her that your better off without her. By getting involved in another relationship." Jackson said as he stood up.

He walked over, and patted me on the back, then walked back out to the basketball court. I sat in the plastic chair for the whole period, thinking. I walked back to the locker room before anyone else to take a quick shower, before getting dressed again. The go bell rang, just as I was putting on my shoes. Who cares I've got lunch anyways. I grabbed my books and headed to the cafeteria.
