(UNEDITED)
I popped my eyes open as I heard keys jingling in the key hole. I immediately sat up and shook Sage who was sleeping beside me on the cold floor. I continued to shake him but he replied me with a grunt and swatted my hands away. I muttered gibberish words and stood up so I can kick his shin continuously.
"I'm up! I'm up!" He rubbed his face as he stood up and glared at me. "What's your prob-"
"Who are you?! And what the fucking hell are you doing here?!"
A loud voice startled us and our eyes snapped where the voice came from. We were met with a middle aged man who was standing on the door and has a huge frown etched on his face. He's probably the owner of the shop. As soon as I saw the street outside I wanted to scamper away from the shop and into the hot pavement but decided against it when my eyes snapped back to the man. His jaw was clenched as his eyes sent daggers towards us. "You thieves!" He screamed and launched for us but we back away to avoid his impending wait.
"Hey mate! Relax! We didn't do anything wrong! We were locked inside!"
"Liars! I'll call the police! Stupid kids like you two, should learn a lesson!" He continued to make his way towards us and we continued to back away, away from him as possible. His eyes were focused on us but soft cracklings' of glasses stole our attention. We glanced down cautiously and found tiny bits of glasses scattered on the floor.
The man huffed as he picked up the broken glass display on the floor. "Look at what you did!" He screeched.
"We are going to pay for that one!" Sage popped in immediately and I elbowed him.
"What do you mean 'we'? You're going to pay for that, I don't have money, remember?"
"Just shut up, Allie." He whispered at me but never left his eyes on the man who was watching our exchange intently. He probably thought that we were planning to murder him.
"I'm going to call the police." The man pulled out his phone from his pocket and began to dial but Sage stopped him.
"I'm the Prince of England!" Sage blurted and the man stopped typing on his phone. His eyebrows rose and his eyes focused back on Sage. I thought he believed it but the corner of his mouth rose and formed into a smirk. I wanted to remove the smug look on his face. Sage and I watched as his expression turned into a grinning one. He began to laugh and shake his head.
"You? The Prince of England? Did you really think that I would believe that?" He chuckled. "What are you going to do now? Call your mommy?" He challenged and his voice was laced with sarcasm and I felt Sage stiffen a bit.
"No I wouldn't but I'm still going to pay for that." Sage replied and I elbowed him again. I heard him release a grunt before he faced me. "Now, what?"
"Don't forget the brownies you ate last night." I reminded him and he rolled his eyes.
"Fine. Leave as soon as you pay or else-"
"You're going to call the police. I know." I rolled my eyes. How many times does he need to repeat that? We get it, you know. The man ignored my comment and instead led us into the counter. I began to follow him but Sage stopped and grabbed the scrapbook on the shelf before he followed us.
The man immediately sprung the television into life when we arrived at the counter while Sage took out his wallet and searched for money. I looked up at the television realized that the channel wasn't moved. It was the same news channel from last night where the news about 'Sage being kidnapped' was reported on. I watched the channel, waiting for news about Sage and I didn't fail when the news came in but this time it was actually the Queen who was on the screen. The first I noticed was that she looked young beside her age.
