She threw her mug across the room spilling its contents on the fur carpet. She was fuming as she read the  articles on her Ipad, he looked happy, too happy and it annoyed her to death. They didn't deserve to be happy while she was depressed when it was all their fault.

"What the hell...! You've got to stop this, honey. It's not gonna bring him back." her mum chastised but she just threw an angry look her way and walked out.

"Mel honey!" she heard Eleanor call but ignored her. She went up the stairs into her room, stripped off all her clothing and entered into the shower.

"Why is this happening to me!" she sobbed as the warm water run down her body. She had loved him enough, hadn't she? She gave him her all, her love, her time—everything and yet he choose that black wench over her. What could she possibly have that she didn't? An idea popped into her head suddenly. She got out of the shower with a conviction and a mischievious smile.

Half an hour later, she walked around in the mall carrying two designer bags from Chanel. She had gone for an incognito look sporting an all black ensemble, a black leather jacket over a black and white graphic tee, black skinny jeans and black ankle boots. She'd worn dark shades as well. Heads had turned as she walked along with her head held high. She walked into a lingerie shop but stopped short when she saw Adeline and Rosa laughing in front of one rack. Bile rose in her throat at the sight making her to want to just throw up. She put on her poker face and walked up to them. Adeline spotted her first, her smile dropping completely from her face. She chuckled inwardly feeling satisfied. Rosa had turned as well with a frown forming on her face.

"It's a surprise bumping into you two here" she said, her face still plastered with the fake smile.

"Yeah! What're the odds" Adeline replied sarcastically.

"I know! So what type are you looking for..." she asked gesturing towards the rack. "Or...I could show you what Noah likes"

"Please stop,Melanie..." Rosa finally said to her, her voice carrying a note of disdain. "Stop this pretense, I can see right through you."

"Really, and what is it you see? Pain?Betrayal? You literally pushed your grandson away from me into her arms."

"I don't think I did that. You managed that by yourself— you cheated and manipulated everyone around so don't you go blaming others for your mistakes."

"You know what, you're right!" she admitted looking remorseful.

"What!" both women exclaimed.

"I made a terrible mistake on a moment of weakness. I felt Noah didn't love me and Eddie came along making me feel special and all. It was foolish of me. I made a bad decision that would haunt me for the rest of my life." a few tears were sliding down her face leaving Rosa and Adeline at loss of words. " I killed my baby..." she had slumped down crying on her knees and drawing attention to them.

"Come on, this is not the right place" Adeline said as she helped her up and handed her tissues.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to let out the tears" she sniffled.

"It's fine" Rosa assured. She felt bad for her now.

"My therapist said I need some closure and..."

"How about you join us for dinner tonight. I think talking to Noah could give some sort of closure." Adeline cut in. Rosa turned to her with a grim look.

"Are you sure? He hates me"

"No, he doesn't"

"I still think it might not be the..."

"Just come, I'll talk to him" Rosa offered.

"Okay, thank you"

"So we'll see you at 7"

"Yeah, 7 sounds fine" Melanie replied with a weak smile and watched as they walked away. She walked back to the counter for bags and walked off to her car. Looking in the rearview mirror, she took off her shades and smiled mischieviously. "What a waste!" she said dapping her mascara. She looked at the time on her phone and realised she had about four hours to get ready for the dinner. She chuckled at the memory of what just happened in the shop. She never knew she could be so convincing, it had been so perfect, down to the tears. She congratulated  herself as she drove away. "Time to fufill a promise!"

"Where are you off to?" Eleanor questioned when she saw Melanie all dolled up.

"I have dinner with Noah and his new family" she replied, taking the last steps down the stairs. She looked elegant in a white off shoulder floor length gown with pearls earrings and necklace and a white pair of heels.

"Do you need to do this?"

"Yeah, it's time right our wrongs"

"What wrongs, Mel?"

"Mum...you worry too much. It's just dinner. Now how do I look?"

"Huh...you look wonderful. Just be careful!"

"Okay! We still have that wine dad bought four years ago, right?"

"Oh no way, that wine is for a special occasion" Eleanor retorted shaking her head in the process.

"Come on! What's more special than reuniting with my ex" she walked off to the cellar despite her mum's misgivings. She got into her car and drove off to the Aldywich residence bobbing her head to the tune of the song playing on the road. When she got to the residence, she touched up her make up in the car and got out taking the bottle of wine with her. She knocked and waited for an answer. It was opened by Rosa who forced a smile on her face.

"Hello!" Melanie pleasantly greeted.

"Welcome! You look beautiful."Rosa complimented.

"Thank you! I brought you wine!" she said raising the the bottle in her hand.

"C'mon in." she stepped aside and allowed her in.

"This should be fun" Melanie muttered to herself as she led into the dining hall. The table was laden with a range of foods fit for a feast and a not so cheerful Noah. "This should be really fun!"
