"I could stay with you here forever, but I have to go back, Jesse. I have work," Beca groaned as she sat up.
Jesse held onto her, kissing her neck multiple times. "Stay," he muttered, pulling her back down.
Beca smiled and kissed him once more, before wriggling out of his grip and standing up, heading towards the shower.
"Hang on, it's the weekend. You don't have to go to work," Jesse questioned from behind her. He was slowly waking up and realising what she had said.
"No, but I have things to sort out for work. And other things too..."
She thought of Chloe. She felt a pang of embarassment and hurt and she wasn't sure if she would be able to look her best friend in the eye again after what happened. It was so awkward and Beca hated thinking about it.
Thankfully, Jesse stayed silent after that. She felt his eyes on her as she grabbed some towels from the cupboard. Was she supposed to tell him that she kissed Chloe? Or was she to just leave it and let it get buried under all her other mistakes? For now she didn't want any more fighting, so she would leave it. She would have to tell him eventually though, because it wasn't fair on him if he didn't know.
Beca entered the shower and turned on the water, letting it heat up for a second.
"Can I at least join you in there?" Jesse called, presumably from the bed where he was still lying.
"No, weirdo. You can wait your turn," Beca exclaimed.
She heard a groan and giggled to herself. Man, she loved him so much. She never ever wanted to argue with him again....
Beca dragged her suitcase across the hallway and paused by the door to find her keys. She held them up in front of the door, hesitating at the thought of possibly seeing Chloe inside. She felt uneasy, but she knew she couldn't ignore her forever.
She pushed the door open slowly, waiting to see Chloe lying on the couch reading a magazine, or standing in the kitchen making a coffee. But when Beca's eyes met the living room, it was empty. She crept in, dumping her bag next to the door.
"Chlo?"
There was no reply. Beca's shoulders fell as she sighed in relief. She closed the door and sat down on the sofa. She hadn't listened to any of the hundreds of messages she'd received from Chloe, so she put her phone to her ear.
"Hey, Bec..." There was silence for a second, before Beca heard her take a deep breath. "I'm worried about you. I know your an adult and everything and you're allowed to do your own thing. But the truth is, I miss you. I'm not mad at you if that's what you think. I'm not going to say the kiss was wrong, but you know why it couldn't be. I don't want to see you and Jesse split up because you're so happy with him. And that's all I want for you. To be happy... Just call me back, please."
The beep marked the end of the message and Beca felt herself become emotional. The message had been so genuine, and Chloe had obviously found it hard to say what she did. She cared, and that touched Beca's heart.
Just at that moment, the front door opened and Chloe stepped in, covered in green paint, a small grin on her face.
This was it. Beca had already fixed one relationship. Now was the time to fix another.
"Beca?" Chloe asked, eyes widened.
Beca stood up, unsure of what to say. "Hi, Chloe."
"Where the fuck have you been?"
"I was in LA. You were right, I needed to sort things out with Jesse," Beca explained.
"Why didn't you say? I had no clue where you were. You could've thrown yourself under a bus for all I knew. Especially in the state you were in," Chloe cried.
"I know. I'm sorry, Chlo."
Chloe shook her head, shrugging her shoulders. "I wasn't pissed. I honestly wasn't-"
"I think we just need to talk," Beca cut in.
Chloe dropped her bag, looking as if she was trying to calm down and made her way to the sofa.
"Okay, let's start from the beginning. Why did you kiss me?"
"Why did you kiss back?" Beca said.
"Please, Bec..." Chloe pleaded.
Beca sighed and sat down on the sofa next to her.
"You want me to be honest?"
"Completely."
"Okay. I... I feel a deep connection to you. You're my comfort, Chlo. I was all over the place, and you were the one thing I could call home," Beca confessed, bowing her head.
Chloe's cheeks went a bright shade of pink, but she stayed composed. "It's okay. I completely understand," Chloe said, taking Beca's hand. "Why didn't you just tell me?"
"I honestly thought you hated me so I kept out of your way."
"If I'm honest. I tried to hate you, but only because you ignored me. I can never hate you though, Beca. Ever since we met back when I handed you that Bellas' leaflet, I knew you would be something special to me," Chloe said.
A tear rolled down Beca's cheek as she glanced up at Chloe. They both smiled before they embraced each other in a hug.
Beca laughed out loud. "Man, I'm not used to going so deep. These last few weeks have changed me so much," she brawled in amusement.
Chloe chuckled as well. "Ice cold Beca Mitchell has feelings, huh?" "Apparently they were in there somewhere..." Beca laughed.
"It'll be alright. Adult life hasn't been an easy ride so far, has it?"
"Nope. Anyway, I've been meaning to ask. Why the hell do you look like a giant sneezed on you?"
"Aha, well. Dylan called me this morning, asking me to help him paint his unborn nephew's nursery."
"Ooh, he asked you to help him with painting. You guys are really getting along," Beca teased.
"Hey, no. I'm not counting on anything. He's a really good friend actually, so I wouldn't even mind if that's how it stays if I'm honest," Chloe said.
"Oh, yeah. That's what they all say. So when so I get to meet this "friend" of yours?"
"I don't know. You could come with me to meet him next time. I don't mind," Chloe suggested.
"Are you sure I wouldn't third wheeling?" Beca joked.
"Oh, shut up."
And so they were back to their usual banter; Bechloe was in full swing again.A/N
