Chapter Thirty-Three

"Well, this sucks." Zayn groaned behind the wheel of the car, sitting back in the leather seat as he patiently watched the long line of traffic in front of us barely move and inch. We had been sat in the car for almost twenty minutes on a five minute route. The traffic was slowly building behind us as the rain poured from the open heavens above and the grey, almost black clouds never failed to drop more and more rain onto the windshields of cars and hard surfaces around as well as walkers hidden under umbrellas and hoodies.

It was almost half six at night, and the sun was close to descending thoroughly behind buildings in the horizon.

Silence overcame the car again, and my head rested against the car window, staring out at the soaked pathways and houses on either side of us. My eyes slowly began to close as the rhythmic pitter-patter of rain relaxed my mind. As soon as I was embraced in darkness and a peaceful slumber, Zayn's phone rang, startling both of us and I quickly opened my eyes as curiosity over powered me and I wished to know whom was calling him at such a random time. He arched his back, feeling his back pockets for the ringing source, and soon enough he found it, furrowing his brows in confusion before swiping the answer button on his iPhone and balancing it between his ear and shoulder as the que of traffic began to steadily move forward. "Hello?" He mumbled, sounding rather relaxed. "Zack, mate! How's it going? I thought you were in L.A?" His voice lightened up as he spoke to his mate, he let out a low chuckle shaking his head as we rolled onward. "You idiot!" He exclaimed playfully. There was a short pause before Zayn looked at me briefly then back to the road. "Erm, yeah she's right here. Why?" I heard Zack respond but the words still unclear due to the distance of me and the phone and volume of it. "I'll ask, hang on." Zayn came to a gentle stop in sync with the cars around us and he pulled the phone from his shoulder and covered the mic, turning in his seat as he did. "Zack wants to know if we want to go out tonight. You know, clubbing?" Zayn muttered not seeming very enthusiastic about it, but his eyes said otherwise. He was almost pleading with me.

"How come Zack isn't with the rest of the group?" I asked rather puzzled.

"He got sent home for sneaking alcohol into the country." He rolled his eyes as if it were nothing but another characteristic his friend had that made Zack, Zack. I let out a sudden yawn, and I covered my mouth before tucking a piece of hair behind my ear. "You look shattered. Maybe not tonight then.." He reasoned lifting the phone back to his ear.

"No! Zayn ill be okay, I'm just a little drowsy that's all. Ill wake up once we're out of this stuffy vehicle.." I smiled warmly.

"You sure?" He mouthed. I nodded in response as he began balancing his phone again, and the car moved a few centi-meters forward. "Yeah mate she's up for it. When and where?" He grinned childishly. "Wicked. See you then, bro." He hung up placing the phone onto the dashboard as we accelerated some more down the road towards a roundabout, every car around us was swiftly moving with ease now, going over ten miles per hour for a change. "We're meeting him at eight, babe." Zayn informed me, placing a hand on my knee, keeping his eye concentrated on the road.

"I've never been to a nightclub before." I said, feeling rather excited.

Zayn let out a slight laugh as he placed his hand on the gearstick and began our rotation around the roundabout.

"It all depends on where you go really." He shrugged.

"Which one are we going too?"

"Just a regular one. Some people from college usually go there, but as seen as half of them are on that trip it may be a little dead. Which is fine for an amateur like you.."
