A New Light

***Jason's POV***

I grab he golden chain that hangs from Alice's neck.

"Wow Felix was clever. I never would have thought he would put it in such an obvious location." I chuckle. The Golden necklace weighs my hand down. Who knew such an innocent little chain could could contain such immense power?

I pull out Pan's heart and examine the glowing red ball. Exactly half of it is dark and the other is light. Just as my father had said. I will never understand how Pan kept his balance equal when Alice left.

"Goodbye Peter Pan." I smirk. Sam's eyes light up as I plunge the heart into my chest. Pan's body slumps in his chair. Finally the  boy who could never grow old has died.

***Alice's POV***

Pan starts to come closer to me. With each step he takes I take one back. He takes another step and I feel my back press against a tree. This is it, my one true love is going to kill me. No wait. The boy who I don't know why I waisted 16 years thinking about, is going to kill me.

His face is about an inch from mine. I can feel his hot breath on my face. This is it, he is going to kill me. I close my eyes and wait for my heart to be ripped out and crushed. But it never comes.

I open my eyes.

I am no longer in Neverland but back outside the shed in the back of Sam's house. The wonderful scent of summer floats through the air. I stare up at the clouds and make shapes out of them. I'm alive and a whole other dimension away from the demon. The thought makes me smile.

"It's such a beautiful day isn't it?" The voice startles me. I sit up and look around until my eyes rest on Sam.

"You." I seethe.

"Alice will you let me explain?" He asks.

"No." I turn away.

"Please?" He sits next to me.

"Fine."

"Okay let me start from the beginning. So I was born into a family of magic. It was a wonderful life. We were always on top and no one ever challenged us.

Then dad got the crazy idea that he needed to kill Peter Pan. He spent every night for two years planning his murder. Once he started he couldn't stop so my brother and I were shut out. We grew really close until one day Jason came down with a terrible disease.

He was going to die and we all knew it. Then dad comes walking in and explains this amazing plan of how to enact his murder on Peter Pan. He had every minute of the next ten year planned out.

He explained the plan to us while Jason lay on his death bed. Then once he finished his plan, Jason breathed his last breath. Dad gave him half of his heart and my brother was back!

But he wasn't the same. Since dad's heart was full of hatred and darkness some of that came with his heart. Jason was always a bit more harsh then he used to be. But I overlooked it, I was just excited to have my brother back.

A year passed and we were sent out to put the plan into action. I was sent to your world and Jason was sent to Neverland. From there we built our lives. I used magic to make my parents and my life. Then you came along. Alice I have loved you like a sister. Everything I did and said to you was completely genuine."

He stops talking and we sit there in silence. I bathe in his words. Sam has always been my brother. He was always there for me. But my whole life was set up to be a lie. My mother was mean to me because Rumpelstiltskin made her. The bullies were there because he planted them to be.

"How do I know that you are telling the truth?" My voice comes out hoarse. 

"Alice I will admit your life was set up. But I was meant to make you enjoy your life enough for you to stay. We never really thought that you would leave. There was always a back up plan, but we never actually thought you would leave." He explains.

"So if I had never left then he would have been killed and life would have gone on like normal?"

"Yes and you never would have had to felt the pain of his betrayal twice. The only thing that would have been different is that Jason would have come and the three of us would have run away."

"You would have helped me leave that horror?"

"Of course Alice I would have done anything for you. We were going to run away to Santa Barbra and live there together."

I have always wanted to go there. It has always been a dream of mine. 

"Sam I'm sorry for everything. I couldn't have asked for a better fake life."

"Of course. I made sure to study your old life in Neverland so that you be comfortable."

I turn to Sam and smile, he did all this for me. Sam's lips curl into a smile and he puts his arm around me. I lean into him.

"Alice?" Another voice says quietly. I turn and see Jason. Then the dam breaks. Everything comes pouring out. Jason did all this for me even though half the time it was for evil reasons. But Pan doesn't love me anymore. Oh my gosh, he doesn't love me anymore. At least Pan is back in Neverland an I am here.

"Wait. How did I get back to Neverland?" I ask.

"My magic to try to make you wake up glitched and it sent you back to Neverland. Oh gosh Alice I'm so sorry for putting you through that." He comes over to Sam and I and he sits down. Jason stares at me and smiles, then he places a soft kiss on my forehead. This brings back another wave of memories. I feel both boys come closer to me. We sit there in silence. They comfort me as I sob. 

I feel as though I can't cry anymore. No more tears come out of my eyes.

"You okay?" Jason whispers in my ear.

"I will be." I say. My throat hurts from all the crying.

Sam stands up and leaves Jason and I alone.

"What happened in there?" Jason asks grabbing my hand and lacing our fingers together.

"Well Pan brought Felix back. Then he took my necklace and took out his heart. How did I not sense it? Then he said he didn't love me and that no one would ever love me because I'm selfish and cruel. And then he tried to kill me."

"Alice what Pan said is not true."

"It's not?"

"No because I love you." 

"I love you too Jason." He smiles and leans in. Our lips touch. The kiss is soft and sweet. We pull away and I hug him. "Wait so now that Peter has his heart that means you are just a regular mortal?"

"Yep I will die at the same rate as a human. Except, I have magic."

"Good. I didn't want you to loose your magic. It would be so hard for you."

"Alice?" 

"Yes?"

"Will you stay with Sam and I and live in the Enchanted Forest?"

The question stops me. Warmth fills my whole body.

"I would love to."
