CHAPTER 13: TYLER
My alarm clock went off at 4:45AM the next morning, but I was already awake. I hardly got any sleep the night before...A mix of being way too excited and way too nervous.
I got out of bed and apologized to Luke and Danny for waking them up on a Saturday, and got dressed in my favorite sweatpants and t-shirt. I was downstairs minutes later and found Abby frantically shuffling through the fridge.
“Good you’re up” She said as she turned to me, “Have you seen the scones?”
“Nope.” I said letting out a tired laugh
“Well that’s what you get for inviting 10 teenagers to live with you.” She screeched
I really couldn’t believe that Abby was dressed in all her jewelry and fancy clothes and 5 in the morning.
“ahh-ha!” She said, smiling and pulling out a partially smashed scone from the fridge
I let out another laugh before I decided to go up and grab my bag.
“Do you need me to get your bag?” I asked Abby
“Yeah,” She answered, “that’d be great they’re upstairs.”
I had no idea how Abby managed to fill more then one bag, but I brought them both downstairs like she’d asked. As soon as I came down we heard someone honking in the driveway and we knew Kelly was here.
“Alright sweetie,” Abby said looking at me, “You have everything right? Passport, boarding pass, all that good stuff?”
“Yep, I got it.” I answered
“Alright, well lets go then.” She said, smiling at me and walking out the door.
I smiled when I saw Paige’s forehead glued against the car window. I put our luggage into the trunk and hopped in the back with Brooke and Paige. We were all excited, but Paige was literally bouncing off the car doors, and Brooke and I were trying not to laugh.
As soon as we got the airport, chaos hit. We had about 15 bags for 5 people, and we hadn’t even met up with the rest of the moms yet. It was a little embarrassing being the only guy there, but I managed to get through it. Once we got through security, and all of our bags were checked, all that was left to do was wait for everyone else.
I held Brooke’s hand as we walked in the general direction of our gate, and I looked down at her. I couldn’t help but smile because this was just the beginning of an entire week in Miami with this girl…the girl that I was in love with.
“What?” She asked once she caught me smiling at her
“We’re here!” I said, still smiling and giving her hand a squeeze
She let out a laugh and leaned into me a little bit.
“BROOKIE!!!” I heard from behind us, and quickly turned around to see Mackenzie running full force into Brooke’s arms.
“woah hey Kenz.” Brooke said, staggering back a few steps to regain her balance
Maddie and Melissa were close behind her with smiles on their faces. Everyone exchanged their hugs and Chloe and Christi appeared moments later. Chloe had the cutest little smile on her face as she hugged each one of us whispering, “I can’t believe it!”
Mackenzie had somehow convinced me to carry her, so I had her in one arm, and Brooke’s hand in the other. We finally made it to our gate and boarded the plane 20 minutes later. We all settled into our seats. At this point, the excitement had worn off a little bit, and I was starting to realize that I’d only slept for a few hours last night.
