25- Rose

Right, so I have no idea what just happened but I'm really upset by it.

I think its just hormones.

" Do you think they'll be friends again? " Lucy asked, and I nodded.

" Of course they will- Friends fight all the time " I smile and Lucy smiles back. But our smiles drop almost immediately as we here Eustace scream.

" EUSTACE! " Lucy and I yell over and over and run to a valley where the yell came from.

" Rose? Lucy? What's happened? " Ed and Caspian ran down after us.

" It's Eustace- he screamed- " My head took a double take.

I ran down a little to find piles of gold...and Eustace's shoe.

" GODDAMMIT " I kick a pile of gold in anger.

" What could've happened to him " Edmund exclaimed, worried as he picked up the shoe.

" I'm sorry " Caspian patted Ed on the back as Lucy wept.

It's my fault- I drove him away, I was too harsh...

" EUSTACE " I yelled, as I ventured furthur into the valley.

" EUSTACE!!!!!!! " I screamed as I fell onto my knees.

I felt Edmund beside me. I could barely look at him.

" I was too harsh to him " I whispered, but Edmund held my hand.

" No, I was too harsh- we should've never left him alone " He replied, and this time I turned to him, looking into his onyx eyes.

" I told him that if he disrespected you again, his fate would not be happy- why would I say that? I didn't mean it " I whispered, my hands were shaking, Edmund wrapped his arms around my waist. I lay my head on his chest as tears fell from my eyes.

A very loud sound was heard and I felt heat of fire on my cheek.

" ROSE ED RUN! " Caspian shouted and at that moment, I looked through my blurry vision to see a dragon.

" ROSE COME ON! " Edmund held my hand as he tried dragging me away.

" Hang on " I yelled to him, over the roars of the dragon.

I looked into the dragons eyes, and they were the golden ones I had learnt to know.

The dragon lept forward and with one claw, grabbed me, and flew me up into the sky.

But I wasn't scared.

I AM EUSTACE

Was written on the ground in burning stones of fire on the ground, that you could only see from above.

" EUSTACE! " I yelled to the others, who were panicking for their lives.

" ITS EUSTACE " I yelled through tears of joy.

Eustace, the dragon, placed me down as I rushed to Edmund, hugging him tightly.

" Eustace? " Lucy said as she went to the dragon.

" Oh silly Eustace " She smiled as she noticed the golden braclet, stuck in his arm.

  Examining the bracelet that Eustace was wearing, Caspian realised that it belonged to one of the seven missing lords, Octesian, who must have been killed by the previous dragon or transformed into one the way Eustace was. 

" It's going to hurt " Edmund said, as him and Caspian yanked at the bracelet.

Eustace growled in pain, and I felt sorry for him.

" Rose, Lucy- Go back to the others and gather the crew- we make camp here tonight " Caspian commanded as we nodded.

It wasn't that far of a distance to where the others were.

We explained Caspians orders, and at once, they were following us, with the likes of food and water that they have managed to find.

" Look! Another sword! Lord Daveos! " Caspian exclaimed from a distance, as we saw him holding up the sword, in delight.

When night had fallen, to show the end of the day, it was like everyone had suddenly switched off and gone to sleep.

But not me.

I couldn't.

I kept thinking about Edmund and what was going to happen to Eustace and how we were going to solve this green mist and find the rest of the lords.

" Rose " Edmund whispered. I didn't know he was still awake. He was supposed to be on the other side of the campfire but I turned to see him sitting himself next to me.

"Have you ever wondered what your life would be like..if you hadn't met me...or Caspian..or any narnian..Infact, not even knowing what Narnia was? " I asked him, looking at him, as he looked up at the stars.

" Yes. It's a life I don't want to live in- you? Have you ever wondered what your life would be like if you hadn't met me or Lucy or- " He replied.

" I don't want to think about it. Even if I take a glimpse of that life, I shudder at the thought " I retorted as I slid my hand in his.

" I hope you realize what you mean to me Rose " Ed said, then kissed my hand gently.

" I do- I hope you realize the same " I replied as we shared a comfortable silence between us.

" Please don't leave- Don't leave like you did last time " I begged him as I looked him in the eyes.

" I'll try. for you " He whispered, our faces getting closer together. I felt his hot breath on my face.

" When I was kidnapped. It gave me a lot of time to think about how I don't want to live without you " I smiled gently as he smiled at the ground.

" You're so beautiful " He whispered and then we kissed once more and the sparks flew and I had never felt more right in my life.

I knew what life was about. It was about Edmund.

It was always Edmund.

I was going to marry him, have kids with him and grow old with him.

We would be happy for the first time in our lives.

And that's when I realised something.

I swear Lucy mentioned something before.

" Goodnight Rose " Ed said as he laid down next to me, but I knew that I would not sleep that night.

" Rose, listen to me, don't fall too hard- love has to seperate- if it was true love in the first place- that person will always come back " 

I had heard Lucy.

And now I knew everything.
