Not three nights ago, I had had troubling nightmares. One after the other.
The first, about my kidnappers and never getting to see the people i loved again.
The second about losing Edmund.
But the last?
It was about dying.
I have always wondered about the concept of death. And I have always been scared about it.
Obviously, everyone is scared of oblivion, and of course, the thought of death and not knowing what is on the other side is daunting.
But for me, Death is scary because of what I would be leaving behind.
Death seemed like a walk in the forest.
It was meant to feel like petals and flowers drifting you away from all that you've ever known.
And I came to the conclusion that dying is fine, but death is not.
Dying still means you are living, but slowly fading away. It gives you time. It lets you see the world that has made you happy, or made you sad. or both.
But death makes your life seem worthless. That you were never actually existent.
The green mist had come into my room that night...and I'm scared of what it is capable. We had set sail not long ago, and it seemed like everyone was silent.
No.
Let me rephrase that.
Everyone WAS silent.
The first voice to be heard that morning was a minotaur named Davros." So, what do you think is in there? " He turned to us, but only slightly as he was steering the ship.
" Our worst nightmares " Edmund stated, slightly turning to me.
" Our darkest wishes " Caspian added, and he seemed to be staring into nothing.
" Archers prepare yourself " Trinian shouted into the silent oblivion and then there was the first, real noise that morning.
Everyone was rustling about and getting on with preperations." Let's get ready " Caspian turned to us three, and we all nodded.
Lucy went down to her chamber to put on her armour but before I could follow, Edmund grabbed my hand." Rose, in case we don't get through this- I love you, be careful okay? " He held my hands in his own and I stared into those eyes I fell for. Those onyx eyes.
" i love you more "
But before Edmund could protest, Caspian had come back to get Edmund and I started walking away.
As I was walking down the steps, I heard Caspian say to Edmund.
" Edmund, I just wanted you to know, I see you as a brother "
" And as I you " Edmund replied and I smiled.
" You love Rose, don't you? " Caspian asked, and I stopped walking.
" With all my heart, Casp. " Edmund whispered so it was barely audible.
" Then never let her go " Caspian said sternly.
" Never. "
I heard the conversation had come to a close, so I ran to my chambers.I felt slightly patriotic. A battle always made me feel this way.
Especially when armour was involved.
When I had got all suited up, I reached for my bow and arrow out of the cupboard and placed the bows on my back.I took slow and steady breaths before stepping out again.
And it was as if the island knew we were coming.
Dark, misty weather had fallen in that short space of time, and we were now closer than ever before.
I joined the crowd of the crew, surrounding Caspian." No matter what happens here, every soul who stands before me has earned their place, on the crew of the Dawn Treader. Together we have travelled far, together we have faced adversity, together- we can do it again. So now is not the time to fall to fierce temptations, to be strong and never give in. Our world, our Narnian lives depend on it. Think of the lost souls we are here to save. Think of Aslan. Think of Narnia. " Caspian said proudly and strong.
" For Narnia " I screamed as everyone joined in.
Caspian looked shocked that everyone was so upbeat but nevertheless proud.
I knew he was scared and I knew that he had the fear that if this went terribly wrong- it was all his fault.
