Maya's POV

I played nervously with my phone, flicking it round and round between my thumb and forefinger. The screen lit up out of nowhere and Luke's name flashed across it causing my heart to twinge.

We hadn't spoken in a few days, since we'd slept together, and I was getting worried he was regretting it.

"Meet me at 7, dress up xx"

My eyebrows knitted together as I re-read his message.

Dress up, what did that mean?

I jumped up from my seat on the sofa and took the stairs two at a time, arriving in my bedroom and flinging my wardrobe doors open. I trailed my fingers over all my clothes, trying to pick something 'dressy'. They landed on the dressiest thing I had, the black dress I wore on my birthday. I picked it out the criminal line up of clothes and hung it up on my wardrobe door, as a last resort.

But after half an hour of trawling through everything, the dress was a winner.

I sighed and tugged it off its hanger, pulling my own clothes off and throwing it on. I caught sight of my reflection in the mirror and saw how it hugged me in all the right places, causing me to smile as I remembered both Luke and Jack's reaction the last time I wore it.

With one last glimpse at myself I moved onto hair and makeup. And as always when you try to look nice, it went horrendously. I had chosen to do a dark smokey eye look, and coupled it with red lipstick, but my shaky hand couldn't quite blend the eyeshadow correctly, or twist my hair into the wavy side do I wanted.

Before I had even left the house I felt defeated and stood staring at my reflection in the hallway mirror, after slipping on my black converses.

"Maya! Sweetheart! You look.....wow give me a twirl." I turned to face my mother who was stood hunched up in the hallway, a warm cup of tea pressed between her hands. I did as she said and spun around causing her to squeal quietly. "Where are you going dressed like that?"

"Just out with Luke." She cocked her eyebrow at me and smirked. "Luke ey....like a date?" I shrugged my shoulder and tried biting on the inside of my cheek to stop myself from smiling. It didn't work and I smiled shyly, dropping my gaze to my feet. "Ooooo it is!"

"No no no...I mean I don't think so..."

"Do you want it to be?"

This time I couldn't control my smile as the thought of Luke and I on a date danced across my mind. "Yeah...I suppose I do." She grinned at me and squealed louder, moving towards me to open the front door.

We exchanged goodbyes and I walked over to the spot right in the middle of our two houses where Luke and I always met, not expecting to see him as I was pretty sure it was before 7. But to my surprise, he was already waiting, and beamed when he saw me. "You look...amazing." His eyes raked down my body and I giggled. "You don't look too bad yourself." He was wearing a white dress shirt and black skinny jeans that looked new. He smiled at me and reached for my hand intertwining our fingers as he lead the way.

We walked all the way into town, just talking and laughing like we used to. We kept on walking, past our usual restaurants and into the posh part of town.

I tugged on Luke's hand and he turned to face me. "What?"

"You don't have to do this, we can go to our normal Italian restaurant I don't mind."

"Maya, I have been planning our first date for years, I want to spoil you."

"You have?" He nodded and pulled me to two large glass doors that held our reflections. "Ta da." He reached for the long shiny handle and opened one of them, gesturing for me to go in first. Once I had stepped in I was met with the sight of couples everywhere with large candlesticks and roses separating them on their tables.
