Silence.

Silence was all that consumed the automobile as they made their way to Nelly's home, but with that silence came a burning fury that licked the edges of Nelly's mind, and Preston could feel it radiating off of her towards him. What made matters worse was that she'd been quiet and polite towards him since they'd left the club, so he didn't know to what extent she was angry.

She was fuming and he was unnerved, an emotion he didn't take kindly to. He was almost wishing that she'd just yell at him and get it over with.

He'd finally had enough of her quiet steaming and said the first thing that came to mind. "If you've got something to say, don't keep it to yourself, sweetheart, cause I'm a captive audience until we arrive", Preston cajoled, waiting for her response. Nothing.

"What happened to that fiery hellcat that doesn't get fazed by my self-gratifying, arrogant bastard personality?" Silence. "Are you going to say anything?" Preston asked taking his eyes off the road to look at her face with annoyed eyes as he began patting the wheel harshly.

Silence, as she just continued to glare outside the window as proverbial steam came out of her ears.

Preston huffed out an exasperated breath and pulled the car to the shoulder of the road. He knew just the way to get a reaction out of her, after all he didn't give her the nickname 'hellcat' for no reason.

"That's what I thought. Nothing but a loud-mouthed coward who thinks she knows everything about everything, but when it boils down to it doesn't know sh–", Preston began to rant when Nelly turned her attention to him with the nastiest glare he'd ever seen on a person.

Preston smirked at that, knowing he had her hook, line and sinker and continued, looking straight into her angry deep brown eyes. "What are you even angry about? As far as I can tell I should be the one that's angry. Why would you go to a club dressed like that when you're–", he was cut off by a furious Nelly.

"You... should be angry... at me? So what I went to the club to have fun with some friends, of which I have none! So what I wanted to dress this way! It's neither for the attention of other men nor you! All I wanted was one night to myself and I couldn't even get that, Preston!! What is wrong with you?! One guy presses up on me and you decide to assault him? In the middle of a Cuban club at that? Are you dumb?" She snapped viciously, killing him with her eyes.

Preston felt his own flame of fury begin to ignite as her words replayed in his mind. He was the dumb one? "Who cares if it was one guy, two guys, three guys? All I know is there is someone trying to dry hump my fiancée on the goddamn dance floor! You ask me what's wrong with me, but what's wrong with you? Who wants to sit down watching their girl grind to the floor for the whole world to see! NOT me! And watch your damn tone, Neslande. Remember who you're talking to and know your place!" Preston yelled back, getting over the earlier cajoling.

"Give me a break! What is this the 1950's? Know my place? Well know yours, oh holy Senator. And how the hell did you know where I was? Were you following me?" Neslande narrowed her eyes at her fiancé.

Preston scoffed, rolling his eyes, then smirked at the driver's wheel in his grip before turning back to Nelly who was leaning over the console of the car. "Nell, I want you to turn around and tell me what you see."

Neslande turned around and saw the beefy secret service agents, Agent Callahan and Agent Gonzalez who were standing at attention in front of the SUV. Agents Malcolm and Spencer were standing behind the car, poised for any trouble that might arise.
