It was about 11th period before I was finally able to waltz down to the principles office. With the help of the one crutch under my right arm, I opened the door and stepped in the office. I hobbled over to the table and gave the woman a friendly smile. She glanced at me, since she was on the phone, and continued to talk on the phone for about 30 more seconds.

"Hi sweetie," she gave me a sad smile. Keep your sympathy to your self, "if you could talk a seat for one second I'm sure he'll be out with you shortly. He's with some one right now."

I shrugged and sat down on the spring bound seat. I sighed as it felt good to sit. My muscles relaxed as I leaned back in the seat. There was nothing better than being able to sit when you're all bruised and broken. Ok, well maybe it'd be better with some ice cream.

My thoughts were disturbed as a door in the back swung open. I could hear two very low voices speak. The voices only got louder when the two started walking closer to the door I was sitting next to. Once their faces came into view, I stiffened and tried to look anywhere that I could. Tried to act casual and stay away from that face. I just couldn't bare to be in anymore pain.

"I appreciate you coming to me as a witness Connor. I know this school is tough and it's only the first day but it does get better." The principle whispered something to him. I assume it's because I am present in the room.

"But she's so-" some thing cut Connor off. Probably the shake up a head and a finger to his lip accounting for the silence in the room.

"Do you have a car?"

"Yes I do sir."

"Did you drive it here?"

"Yes I did sir."

"Go home Connor. You've had a long day I'm sure of it." More silence was present before the sound of a door opening and closing reached my ears.

"Cybele," I looked up at the man with the booming voice, "right this way please." I painfully stood up and hobbled my way back to his room. He held the door open for me as I stumbled in.

"Thank you." I mumbled. He nodded his head and pulled a chair out for me. I oh so gracefully sat down and let out a sigh as my body relaxed once again. I watched from across the table as the principle sat down. He patted his forehead to rid of the shinny sweat on his skin.

"Now Cybele, care to tell me what happened before the first punch was thrown?"

"Sure. I was walking down the hall because I left lunch early to get to my next class, which is across the school, when I was pulled back by one of the girls. And she taunted me to fight, she punched while I defended. I never did throw a single punch. At one point I was pulled back by my hair and I guess it was a way of holding me down. The last thing I saw was someone come and push through the crowd. His name is Connor."

"Ah yes. Connor. The witness," His voice sounded like poison. There was some killer silence before he spoke again, "Cybele, I want you to stay away from him."

"One step ahead of you sir." I spoke with my head down. I didn't need another reminder of what happened a couple years ago. It still struck pain in my heart to think about it.

"I told him to stay away from you. But he seems curious. Just make sure you know what you're doing before you say anything. We don't need a repeat-"

"Sir," I said politely as I could, "I already said-"

"Don't use that tone with me young lady. You're the reason the star football player is gone. He was everything we got and now he's gone! No more school events! No more donations! No nothing! I don't need my- I mean this new student, to be gone within the next week."
