My eyes slowly opened to the sound of rain hitting my window in my room. It wasn't heavy, but it also wasn't a light mist either. I looked out the window happy to find that it wasn't pitch black outside. A light grey painted the sky and covered the trees with a mellow green. I smiled to myself and rolled on my back taking a deep clean breath. My window was cracked open slightly, letting the smell of a fresh rain into my room. I watched as the rain slowly cascaded down my window, then out of sight.

A muffled meow was heard right out side of my door followed by a minuet sound of claws scratching my door. I giggled to myself. Days like this just made me so happy. Nothing could make me happier than a day like this.

I folded the covers back and let the cool air sooth my boiling skin. Yeah I don't like the cold, but sometimes, I like to feel a little vulnerable. I sighed at the relaxing feeling the frigid cold brought me as I got up and walked around my room for a couple of minuets. The scratching sound had gotten louder and the meows became more needy.

"Alright alright. Give me a second Mr. Impatient," I said as I threw on my robe just before I began to shiver. My robe was a big blue puff ball. Seriously, it was just a massive puff. It's so puffy that I'm afraid to even eat in it. I'm afraid that if I do, the crumbs will be lost in my robe forever. And for me, that's a little over the top. You know, with the germ factor and all.

I slowly made my way down stairs like a blind old lady and walked over to his food bowl. I grabbed a can of cat food next to his dish and opened it. With my cat meowing like crazy, I poured the contents into his bowl. I quickly backed away so I wouldn't get murdered by my cats mouth. I chuckled at his cuteness before throwing the can away and going to sit down on the couch to watch some TV.

The pixels on the screen lighted up in a thousand different colors making the bears from We Bare Bears move around on the screen. A small grin formed on my face as one of the characters fell into a trash can. I scoffed and shook my head. That show was always a medicine for my sadness. But right now, I was on good terms. I decided to throw a movie into the DVD player just for some background noise as I began to play around on my phone. I was overly joyed that my mother still wasn't home and that I had the house all to myself still. When she's home, things between us could go mad. Lamps could be broken, pillows popped and wine spilled. You never knew what was going to happen if you got my mom mad enough with the right amount of alcohol.

But just when I thought I was in the clear for a relaxing afternoon, there was a knock on the door. All my hope and happiness faded and all I could think about was the fight that was about to break out. Maybe I did need the bears after all today.

I slowly rose up from the couch and walked to the door. I held the handle with care before slowly unlocking the bolts. I let out a breath before twisting the knob and swung the door open. Keeping my head down, I backed away from the entrance giving her space to enter and not bump into me. I waited for her to walk in, but all there was, was silence.

Too much silence.

I scrunched my brows and before I could say anything, there was a familiar voice.

"Well? Am I allowed in?" My head snapped up and my eyes were given a rather pleasant sight to see. Connor stood in the door way with some flowers and a bowl of fruit. He was drenched from the falling rain and his hair was bat shit crazy. "Or do I have to turn around and return to my home in soaking clothes?"

"Connor!" I cut myself off and cleared my throat, "I mean, Connor. I forgot that you were going to come over." I gestured for him to come inside into the warmth of my house, "You're here early."

"Cybele, it's one in the afternoon." I'm pretty sure my eyes bugged out at him.

"One in the afternoon?!" I looked at the nearest clock I could. And as he had said, it was indeed one in the afternoon.
