"I honestly can't believe it! All summer, just us at the beach...this is going to be the most amazing summer ever!"
I thought over and over in my head, having to restrain the urge yelling it aloud. I was extremely excited to be with my bests friends, Joanna and Riley, we were headed straight to the coast. It would not be long before we arrived. We would be staying in Joanna's beach house. It was so close to the ocean that if I stood on the deck, I could almost feel the waves crashing in and out.
My thoughts were interrupted by Riley letting out a high pitched scream from the top of her lungs.
"What the heck!?"
Joanna yelled back shocked as she straightened up from swerving slightly as she tries to keep her eyes on the road and not give Riley a death stare. I could see it all over her face it was taking a lot.
"Riley, what in the world is wrong?"
I screamed tours her. Riley simply busts out laughing hysterically and says
"Shopping, guys, romance, the beach, just us...how could this get any better?!"
"I should have known"
I mutter and smirk slightly while Joanna is laughing at Riley's excitement.
"Oh come on Nell you know that was funny!"
Riley continues, still laughing.
"Yeah other than me almost crashing the car!" states Joanna.
I start to mumble how she scared me and i thought something was wrong.
"Come on Nell this is going to be awesome, and don't think you are getting out of that deal we made either now do you?"
Riley says turning around and pocking me in the middle of the forehead.
"Wait! What deal? "
Joanna asks, her natural curiosity kicking in.
Riley gets her famous mischievous grin on her face, making me burst out laughing at how goofy she looked. It was evil looking and hilarious all at the same time. She doesn't care, though she loves the fact that her grin can make me laugh.
She turns around to face the front and says as if a plan was already forming in her big head
"Do you remember Daniel?"
"Yeah, why?"
Joanna says arching an eyebrow.
"Well you see he basically confessed his undying love and I mean LOVE for Nell here and how he would do anything for her."
She paused for a moment to glance and smirk at me. I just felt my blood start to boil. I loved Riley but she well never understand me.
"He told me a few weeks before school got out and Nell over heard"
pointing back at me in mid sentence
"Nell said if I tried to hook them up she would kill me, so instead I made an ingenious deal with her!" She popped the collar of her plaid shirt slightly and seemed very proud of her so called
"genius".
"If she didn't go out with Daniel then this summer, you and I were going to find her a guy and she could not say or do anything about it!"
"Dang'it, I thought she would have forgot about that by now, what am I going to do?"
I stated under my breath, lucky neither of them heard me or I would have herd a lot of complaints. They were too busy squealing about what kind of guy they would find for me.
After listening to them argue over what his hair would look like and how they refused to let me become a spinster, I just could not take it anymore . I throw in my iPod and turned it up as loud as it would go. I just can't handle this.
They always ragged about how I never had a boyfriend. Sure I had crushes, but never anything that developed further. None of the guys I knew just gave me that special feeling everyone described as "love".
Even though I dreaded the thought of them trying to hook up with another guy I could not help but be full of excitement. Something inside of me filled me the feeling that this was not going to be a normal summer, but something I would never forget.
I look up at my lame friends, who were still arguing and moving their hands as they talked. I couldn't tell what they were saying. I simply rolled my eyes and leaned back in the seat, starring out the window.
But soon I could not help but feel like I was being watched closely even though my friends where the only other ones in the car and they were in the front. I couldn't lie and brush it off as just nerves, it wasn't a new feeling.
"You're back I see. "
I whisper in my head only to bring a slight smile to my lips. I remembered everything that happened the first week of summer, just a few days before us three had left for the beach.
I had this same feeling of these so called "Watcher", ever since the last day of school. The strange thing was I never knew how many there were just that it was a lot, never staying for long and seeming to just fade in and out.
When they were there I could feel their eyes just following me everywhere. Like every move I made was being judged for something. But when they would all seem to fade away, someone would always stay. He had stayed behind right from the start has always been there. I did not know if he was one of them but I don't wont to ask. He was different from the others and that was all I needed to know.
"Logan?"
I asked in my head as I continued to gaze out the car window. I always asked his name, because when I did...the feeling increased. As if he was right next to me, guarding me. The Watchers didn't have specific names, none that I knew of at least. I had always known he was Logan ever since the dream. The first night of summer. The night I began to feel him and the others watchingme.
