An Old Imaginary Friend

I study him a moment hopping to get a hint of who he really was but something colt my attention. A black shadow sediment to move around the beach. It was funny it almost look like a dragon or some odd form of one. It was not very easy to make out. I watched it almost like I was in a trans. I could feel my body slowly drifting form control. It was a flat shadow.

Probable a figure of my imagination, I tried to tell my self. I was ok with it until the shadow started to rise. I felt my self stumble back. My head shot down to see where I was fall but I was in the same place. I was still standing?

" Logan wear are ... Nell stop just stop. Gosh what's wrong with me I am about to get eaten and I am worried about h.."

I paused. I could feel a something staring me in the face. I looked up and saw a head form in front of me. I studied it hopping to find a weakness or a place to run.

The thing had a long thick neck. It curved so that its head or I think that it was it's head. Was in front off mine. I moved lower, the body was huge. The more time that passed the more it cam into view. I could see its chest move in and out like it was breathing. It rested on all thick and strong legs. Its wings were pulled in but still larger than life.

I moved my head lower then froze the front feet did not rest on the sand but under my feet. Wait this was not something. It was my shadow? How is that possible?

Its back feet were dug in the sand with its large claw on ever toe. They seemed to move in and out like they it were anxious. It started to become clear and so did its tail. It swayed back and forth leaving a indent in the sand.

Spikes covered it's body like razors. But a feeling of eyes on me grew. My head shout up to only to meet eyes that were red, blood red looking deep in to my blue ones. Razor teeth hung slightly out of its mouth. I could feel its hot breath on me now blowing my hair back slightly with every ex-hell.

"Its eyes, there sad?"

I pondered over and over this. The poor thing.

" WATE WHAT IN THE HEACK AM I DOING THIS THING IS PROBABLY GOING TO EAT ME AND I AM WORRYED ABOUT HOW SAD IT LOOKS! IT OFFESEL I HAVE LOST IT!"

I almost fell back when a noises colt me out of my thoughts. It was laughing. Not as much an evil laugh but the kind of laugh only best friends share when the other dose something stupid.

" Is he laughing at me? Wait can you hear me?OH MY GOSH I DID NOT JUST THINK THAT I AM...."

I was stopped by it shifting. Then I heard.

" As you can feel, see, and hear me. Yes it was me my dear. Why are you so afraid of something that has never hurt you? Answer me do you truly fear me or is it the fact that you don't understand what is happening. ”

I wonted to run. I tried but something hard rapped around my legs. I tried hard to move my legs. His tail only got tighter lifting me up to forcing me to look in to blood.

Time passed slow I felt like my breath and his were one. It hit me he was right. I did not fear him. He was more like me than me two best friends.

Misunderstood.

“ NO! I don't fear you!!!!!!”

He lifted me down but not letting go. Nether of us looked away, but its eyes were studying me with fear.

“ What? Not what you wonted me to say?”

“No I. Its just that you can hear me feel me. And . Me you.”

“ What are you talking about?”

Strangely he started smelling my head like a dog. I could not help but giggle. Then he stopped with an angry look.

“What?”

His mouth curled in to a sneer.

“ Life covers you in smell with a hint of fire and”

He smelt me again this time I did not move this time.

“It smells as if a fade of water.”

I looked strangle at him?

“ What are you going on about? “

He did not answer me

“Demetri!!”

We both froze. Why did I say that? He was the first to break the silence.

“My dear you have not called me that in a very long time.”

I had not used that name scene I was little. It was the name of my imaginary friend. Was he? No it was impossible. Was it?

No words were needed. The answer was yes with just one look in his eyes. Now that I think about it. He did look a lot like my old imaginary friend but bigger and more well scary. I wonted to touch his head even with the spikes like I did when I was little. I felt like it would be just as soft now as then. I Moved my hand outward about half way. I stopped and waited for him to fell the rest of the gap. Like I would have done any animal to gain trust. He leaned his head in coming to meet mine.

His head and my hand where only an half an inch apart when I felt a hand grab my arm and it burn like fire. I screamed my arm was literally burning and I could see a hand print on it.. I broke our eye contact, jerking my hand toured my arm. I was shocked my skin was burned in the shape of a hand. It looked like some one had or was grabbing me but I looked to where I hoped to find an explanation to the pain. But I only found endless darkness.

“Whats going on?”

I closed my eyes hearing  yelling through the pain. It was not Demetir’s voice but Matix that answer me. “Nell!! Nell !!”

I opened my eyes to see I was back on the beach next to the pear.

“ Thank goodness Are are ok!?! “

I did not answer him I looked around in panic for Demetri but stopped in pain. I looked down at my arm that Matix held with a worry. He looked at me and me at him then my arm. He removed his hand. I gasped where his hand had been, was I hand shaped burn.

My skin was boiling.

“ How?............... Wait they cant see me like this!!”

Matix was shocked

“ Wait.”

He handed me his jacket.

“ When did you have a jacket!!!!!!!”

I yelled at him.

“ It dose not matter! We have to go put it on and lets go if you are late they are going to suspect something.”

I did as he said as he grabbed my hand and pulled me up the steps to get on the pair. When did I ever tell him about Joanna and Riley? My biggest fear was just to hide this burn. I stopped Matix before we got all the way on the pear.

" What is it Nell?!!?"

I looked him deep in the eyes and said what I had to

" Matix I need answers and I need them now got it!!! You are going to tell me before we go up there WHAT THE HECK HAPPED WHEN YOU BURNED MY ARM!!!!"

Matix just froze looking at me with said

" Nell I Am So Sorry please for give me. I don't know what happened. I mean Humans cant feel or see us in those forms and..........."

I stopped him here.

" WHAT THE HECK DO YOU MEAN HUMAN!!!!!!!!"

Matix looked as if he was about to answer me when something stopped him. I followed his eyes only to find the answer I was not looking for. Only a few feet away was Joanna and Riley.

"Great!" I huffed.

"Looks like we are both waiting a little longer."

“Wait Both?”

“Don't worry about it now Nell.”

With that Matix pulled me trod them.
