Jason's pov

I work on my music with my guitar propped on my leg. The girls asleep. Now thinking about the girl who took care of them. Carol. I don't think I've ever been so grateful. The door opens, catching me by surprise. I sit up quickly as Sierra walks into the room. "I couldn't sleep." She mumbles, rubbing her eye. "You wanna lay down with me?" She crawls into my lap and I rub her back and sing her a song like I used to. She falls asleep against my chest. It feels so good to hold her again.

*the next day*

She's still asleep in my studio while I make breakfast. I hear a door open and close upstairs. I smile as my other daughter comes downstairs. "Hey sweetheart, hungry?" She nods and I pull out a chair for her. "Where's Sierra?" "Asleep in my studio. I'm gonna go get her up now." I open the door and she's got my guitar. I don't let her see me as she plays it a little. Wow! She's a natural on the guitar. "I told you on the day we wed, I was gonna love you til I's dead. Made you wait til our wedding night. That's the first and the last time I wear white." She sings. I smile and walk back out to the kitchen. "Sierra's busy right now. It's just gonna be you and me darlin'."

Sierra's pov

I look at the song books he's got lying about. I go out to the living room where he's watching TV. "Daddy? Can you play this song for me?" I ask, handing him the guitar. He smiles. "Yeah, this is one of my favorite songs." I sit on the floor beside my sister who was watching TV but turned to listen. "I can keep on changin' the song, keep on changin' stations til I finally land on one that I don't mind that they keep playin'. Take a different road through town. Find another way around. Change it up, really shake it up, I'm tryin' but it don't change gone, it won't bring her back, she's moved on and I'm stuck with that, yeah I could changed whatever I want but it don't change gone." After he finishes the song, he sets the guitar down. "I wrote that song after your mother passed away and you two went missing." By now, we're both sitting cross legged listening to him. "Tell us about mama." Miranda whispers. He looks up from his guitar at us. "She had blonde hair and she was tall, taller than me even. And she couldn't wait to take you to work everyday." He smiles. "What did she work as?" "I meant a concert or me performing. She loved hearing us sing together." "We would.... Sing together?" I gasp, surprised. He nods. "All the time. You loved getting onstage and singing with me. Both of you. It was one of the very few times you weren't shy or sca-" Someone knocks at the door. He sets the guitar down and goes to the door. "Who is it?" "Carol." "What? How'd she know where I lived?" He opens the door anyway. "Mama!" My sister yells. But she's not our mama. Our mama is dead. She hugs her. "How's it going?" "It's uh going fine." He says, nervously. I stand up, shakily. "Why'd you tell us you were our mom?"

Jason's pov

Oh jeez. "You told them I wasn't their mom?" "Well you're not! You're not their mother and you shouldn't act like it!" Miranda backed away from Carol after remembering. "It's okay though. I mean I know you care about them and love them as much as I do. Just don't claim to be their mom. Brittany was their mother." "I guess I can settle for that." She says, getting down on her knees and hugging Miranda. Sierra hugs her too. She's real pretty and she's real good with the girls after taking care of them the three years they were missing. "I was wondering if you wanted to move in with us. That way you could see the girls every day and help me take care of them. Lord knows I can't do it myself." She smiles. "I'd love to. Thank you." "No thank you. You took great care of my girls when I couldn't." She stands up and hugs me. "Well, who wants to go out for a celebratory lunch?" I say, pulling out of her grip. I don't want to admit this because I don't want it to be true but I'm starting to have feelings for her.
