" I'm Andrew. What is a girl like you doing in this motel? "Huh? A girl like me?
" It seems like I will have to stay here until my university finds me a place. "
" Well, I hope you won't stay here for a long time. You can get the idea of what kind of place this is. "
I was too tired for a chit chat.
" Thanks for the concern. I should get going. Good evening. "
I was expecting to get away from him but I realized my room was just next to his. With the awkward situation I opened my door and watched Andrew as I closed the door.
I only took my backpack with me which had a pair of pajamas and a few other things in it.
I lied on bed and closed my eyes. My mind was busy with processing what happened that day. I thought I was tired but all my sleepiness faded away.
I thought about Dylan. He was probably just watching TV with Cole. They must have been happy to be finally left alone. And I was laying on a bed, watching ceiling in a cheap motel.
I couldn't breathe anymore. The room was getting smaller and smaller leaving me breathless.
I knew there was a park near around the motel. I took my keys and my backpack and left the motel quickly.
When I arrived at the park I was amazed by the scene. There was a little pond and pillows on grass as seats. Trees were covered with pretty lights and there were still a few ducks swimming in the pond.
I sighed and sat on one of the pillows under the tree. I was wearing Jean shorts and the wind got me a little cold. I watched the floating ducks as I thought what to do next.
I was too caught up by the scenery didn't even realize the man who sat next to me.
"Hey, you seemed like you were cold so I brought you hot chocolate. ". Andrew smiled as he showed me the cup.
" Oh hey, how did you know I was here? Thanks by the way, smells delicious. Just the thing I needed. ". The pleasant surprise warmed me up.
" They called me from the police department but it turned out to be a false alarm. I was already outside so I thought I would wander around. Then I saw you and you looked blue and cold. I thought you'd like to have a companion and hot chocolate. ". His smile was as warm as my hot chocolate.
I took a sip while listening and it was delicious. No matter how hot it was I couldn't stop myself from taking another sip.
" Gosh, this hot chocolate is the best thing that happened to me today. ". I smiled as I took another sip.
Andrew chuckled and I realized how charming he was.
" Hard day, huh? ".
" Sort of... Actually University had found me a place to stay but I was the unwanted guest and I didn't want to bother them. ". I smiled sadly. Didn't know how easy I could give up.
" You should stick around me as long as you stay in that motel. This area is a little bit dangerous. "
" So are you a police officer? "
" Not really. I'm actually a detective and there is a case in this area. So I will be staying in that motel until the case is closed. "
" Anything serious? "
" I'm just there to learn. So I'm not really involved. ".
It felt good to talk to him. I stayed with him for half and hour I guess. It was nice to finally have someone who actually wanted to talk to me.
We kept staying quite for a moment and just watched the pond. Andrew went to get me another cup of hot chocolate and I was enjoying the moment.
But then a car stopped by the park. Dylan and Cole got out of car and they walked towards me. I was baffled to see them but they looked quite pissed off.
I heard Dylan yelling, "WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING?!"
