its been five days since his last nightmare. five whole days. this is the longest its been since he was seven. and in the back of his mind, he knew it had something to do with yoongi. but jimins mother was worried, like always, and had decided to come visit him today.
jimin was nervous, not quite sure how all of this would go. he was excited for his mother to meet yoongi, she already knew that he was gay so it wouldnt be too shocking, but jimin himself wasnt even sure if him and yoongi were anything official. it felt that way, but nothing had really been discussed. he was very nervous, though, for his mother to ask about his pills. jimins mother wanted him to take these pills, that didnt do anything but make jimin feel nauseous. but his mother would go on, and on, about how they might eventually help.
"yoongi?" jimin said softly from his spot next to the blonde boy on the couch. yoongi looked up from his phone, smiling gently as he nodded for jimin to continue. "my...my mothers coming to visit today, an- and i was wondering if you maybe want to uh- meet her? i mean you dont have to! but i was just.. uh- yeah.." jimin said, trying his best to sound casual, but instead ending up sounding nervous and unsteady. yoongi said nothing for a moment, before smiling once again, "of course." he said simply.
jimin let out a sigh of relief that he hadnt even known he was keeping in. his mother was..strange. he loved her, like he mentioned earlier, but she had very weird ways of doing things. his mother was a former nurse, which made her believe that she could solve every problem that they ever faced with medication. oh, your son is gay? we have a pill for that. oh, your son has an extremely rare nightmare disorder? we have a pill for that too! jimin thinks that after his father left them, his mother went a little crazy. she just kind of lost touch with reality and went into some sort of world of her own where she could fix everything that she didnt like. even though it didnt actually work that way.
"yoongi?" jimin said slowly for the second time that day, gaze moving from the floor to yoongis face. yoongi simply looked back at him and lifted the corner of his mouth."my mom..she might say things. and by that i mean that she might say things that are offensive, or hurtful. i just want you to know that she doesnt really mean them. shes just like that, but shes actually a very sweet lady and-" but yoongi cut jimin off by grabbing his hand and squeezing it, a reassuring smile taking over his face.
"its okay, jiminie. it couldnt be any worse than my parents." he then said, voice coming out quieter that he had initially intended. jimin didnt know what he meant by that, because yoongi had never mentioned his parents before this. but yoongi knew, and eventually he would tell jimin. just not now. it was hard for him to talk about. around two years ago, yoongi was still living at home and had finally built up just enough courage to come out to his parents. it was an extremely hard thing for him to do, he had always been a bit emotionally detached from his parents.
so one night, when he came home from high school, he decided then was the right time. so he sat on the couch, the one across from his parents, and slowly mumbled "im gay..". what came after that, yoongi never really wanted to think about. your parents, the people who brought you into this world and are supposed to love and protect you no matter what. the people who you go to if your sad, or hurt. the people who teach you about the rights and wrongs of life. when those people yell and scream and tell you that they dont love you, and that your a mistake, that hurts. it hurts much more than yoongi would ever like to admit.
yoongis thoughts come to an abrupt halt when the doorbell rings. jimin shoots up from his seat, rushing over to pull open the door. "jimin!" a woman's voice rings through the tiny apartment. yoongi slowly rises from his seat, poking his head over so he could at least see what was going on. there was a lady, who had thick dark hair just like jimins and a big eye smile that matched jimins as well. she was shorter by a few inches compared to the both of them, but it was hardly noticeable. "hi umma.." jimin awkwardly mumbles as his mother touches his face and examines his body for any flaws or injuries.
"oh! whos this, honey?" his mother smiles widely and gestures to yoongi when her eyes land on him. yoongis eyes widen in surprise as he bows many times respectfully. "hello, miss park. im a good friend of jimins. its an honor to meet you." he bows once more before smiling as widely as he can muster. jimin chuckled quietly at how formal and polite yoongi is being, he has never seen him so flustered before. jimin swears he can even see a light dusting of a blush on his cheeks. jimins mother smiles in return and sweetly moves past jimin to give yoongi a hug. "no need to be so polite, dear." she laughs. jimins quite surprised that she hasnt made any comments on yoongis dyed hair or ripped jeans yet.
the next ten minutes go smoothly, his mother making casual conversation with the two of them about things like work. but then something happens. jimins mother finds his pill bottle, the one she gave him the last time she was there, and sees that its still full. "jimin, have you been taking your pills?" she asks sternly, intimidating eyes piercing through him. and thats when things start to go bad.
