AWC Tidbit-The Cliffs of Writing

Hello, again! I'm here with another AWC Tidbit! Woohoo! For this one, I was inspired to give some helpful ideas to anyone trying to write their prompt! So climb with me the treacherous mountain of creativity, and let us peer over the dangerous cliffs we so seek.

As you know, I have given little room in this contest to write a complete story... Gasp! Yet I have established an expectation; that you will either write a complete short story (in 5,000 or less words?? Is that possible!) or end it on a cliffhanger... Both options are somewhat difficult.

While I applaud you if you write a complete story in less than 5,000 words, I also want to give a helpful hand to anyone who has questions or concerns with what they're writing. Keep going! I'm not expecting anything more than your creativity... Well, and a bit of effort shown toward the editing. I'm a snob when it comes to bad grammar!

First off, don't edit until you're done. Go ahead and let the creativity just flow right to the page! Create your 5,000 word world! Start off with a bang, and end holding your breath! Show me the world, tell me your heart, and reveal mysteries!

Writing from the fantasy prompts? Show me a world completely its own! SciFi? Wow me with unusual technology and an outrageous future! Adventure or thriller? Take me on a journey that makes my heart beat, my skin crawl, and my breath come in quick gasps!

I'm not going to tell you anything specific to do. That's not my job! You are the writer here, creating your masterpiece. I am simply the eyes burning to read what worlds you form. After the contest is over, don't hesitate to continue on with your work! If you feel inspired to create even more out of what you've written, do it! The journey doesn't end here, my friends... it goes on to the end.

I hope my words have inspired and encouraged you! Please note, the contest ends September 30th... 4 days!

Now, enjoy the few from atop mount creativity, and dare yourself to near the edge where there's only two more directions; a plummet of sheer danger, and a leap into the glistening sky.

Happy writing!

Don't forget to tag your piece to #awcseptember2015. Please notify me in the comments or PM when it is complete. If you do not feel you will be able to participate any longer, please let me know ahead of time. For anyone running behind, I am willing to give a 24hr grace period, where you get an extra day to write. Only if you notify me. Thank you!
