Chapter 2

"Come on, Em!"

I heard my name being yelled from downstairs by my impatient friends. Yelling back down, I applied my mascara before coating it with a little bit of waterproof mascara. I never knew why I put waterproof mascara on last, probably because if I for some reason cry or my mascara runs, it won't smudge across my face.

I grabbed a clutch from under my bed and placed in my phone, lip gloss and my mascara, almost forgetting money. I didn't have much money, I wasn't supposed to get paid until Monday so I'm going to the party tonight on a budget. Most of the drinks were bought, my friends and I had split our money equally to get the alcohol for tonight. I'm not planning on getting too drunk tonight, drunk at all in fact. I want to have a nice, fun night where I'm not feeling the nasty results tomorrow morning.

"Emily!"

I heard again, my friends were beginning to get restless. I slipped on some black flat dolly shoes before going downstairs.

More people had arrived and were waiting for me when I got downstairs. I thought Luke was missing until I fully got downstairs and I saw him helping himself to the food in my fridge. Rolling my eyes and laughing at him, he looked back at me confused as to why I was laughing, raising his eyebrow at me but turning round to close the fridge door.

"Come on then, you guys rushed me to get ready so we're going," I said.

Everyone began to stand up but as we were about to walk out of the door, my mum came dashing from around the corner demanding us to stop.

"Everyone, get together and have a group picture!" She exclaimed.

We stopped and turned around, standing in a little huddle as we smiled for the photo my mum was taking. Then everybody began to leave my house and started walking down my street towards Josh's, as I was walking out my mum grabbed my hand.

"Have a nice night darling, keep safe, you know what these house parties can lead to," she said before giving me a quick hug.

"Of course I'll be safe mum, I'm with my friends, you know half of them wouldn't let anything bad happen to me," I said. "Well anyway, I'm off, I'll text you when I'm there," I concluded before leaving.

I finally caught up with everyone, Luke had waited outside with Nakitta for me so I didn't have to walk on my own. I'm sure there's something going on between them but the fact that Luke is hardly ever interested in girls and I've never seen him to have a proper girlfriend makes me think different; I know she likes him though, she's told me so many times and the way she looks at him is really cute but then again, my best friend with my other best friend? I don't really see it.

After walking for five or so minutes, we arrived; the party looked as if it had already started and that we were in for a good night. The music could be heard down the street because it was so loud, all the new party songs that get you in the mood to dance all night.

We walked inside and there were so many people, we all struggled to squeeze between them. We all maneuvered between the people having drinks and dancing until we reached the kitchen area where we found Michael and Ashton. I tried to say something to them but they couldn't hear me because of the loud music.

"Where is everyone?" I yelled.

Michael looked at me then looked at Ashton before yelling back at me, asking what I had just said.

Taking a huge breath so I could try and yell loud enough over the music.

"Where, is, everyone?" I yelled but this time he heard me, but instead of answering my question, he reached into a beer cooler and handed me a bottle.
