John's POV:||
She's gone.Amelia's POV:||
Nobody home in the late afternoon at John's mums, or Mimi's. I couldn't find John around town, and what was even stranger was that he hadn't found me. So I resorted to his best friend's place instead. Paul."Hell- oh Hi Amelia-" He gave a smile, which quickly faded "uh what are you doing here?" I figured his sudden change of tone was because of what had happened between him and John, and me too I suppose.
"Have you seen John? Can't seem to find him around anywhere" I smiled, stepping inside the door into the warmth of the home.
"Oh, you...you haven't heard?" He almost whispered, shutting the door. My heart dropped.
"Heard what?" John's in trouble? They've packed up and moved? He's dead? Oh god it can't be-
"Julia- ... Julia's dead Amelia" He swallowed, leaning against the doors.
"What? How? I-I only saw her last night-"
"This morning, she was hit by a car, they couldn't save her"
"Oh my god, Jesus" I swallowed, not terribly effected by the news of her death, I didn't know her that well, but more so about John. "Is John alright? I need to find him-" I reached for the door handle but Paul stopped me, his hand grasping my wrist.
"No, you know what John's like...if he needs you he'll find you. Why don't you just give him a day to get a hold of things, to be with family." He smiled sadly, gently rubbing my arm. Begrudgingly, I admit, his advice was good.

Three days on and John was still nowhere to be seen, not with Mimi, his step dad wouldn't even let me inside. Once again I returned to the best friend."Paul I know you said wait but now I'm worried"
"Hasn't he come to you yet?" He furrowed his eyebrows
"No, why have you seen him?"
"He's down at Shotton's love" he sighed "I can walk you if you like."

"You're really good for him, y'know that. Gives him an outlet" he chuckled "so he doesn't go whorin' around and getting drunk all the time" making me feel a little awkward.
"Yeah, I guess, thanks for helping me out" I smiled, patting his shoulder, unsure of how much affection is appropriate to display to your boyfriends best friend who is also your ex-almost-fling.
"No worries... You're a great girl-"
"Paul, please-"
"No no, I know you're with John and I respect that I do, I like it even" he smiled "you're good together, I just wanted to say that he's lucky to have you"
"Thanks" I sighed, stuffing my hands into my pockets. We arrived at the door and Paul decided to issue me with a warning.
"Look John's not an emotional guy, so, don't be discouraged if he doesn't y'know take your shoulder to cry on y'know"
"I got it Paul." Pete led us into the living room, all I could see was the back of John's head, watching the TV. "John" I spoke up, he turned to face Paul and I, a beer pressed to his lips.
He smiled weakly "Minnie" he stood up and walked over to me, placing his hands on my hips with a grin. "Can y'give me a second alone boys?" With a suggestive nod and wink Pete and Paul exited the room and with that, the guard came down.
He wrapped his arms tight around me, pressing his nose into my shoulder, sobbing. I was taken aback at first, but I rubbed his back gently and held him up as best I could.
"She's gone" he whimpered "I was just getting to know her and now she's gone, she was just starting to love me"
My heart broke, I stroked his hair and cuddled him in tighter. We may just look like silly teenage boyfriend and girlfriend who kiss and stuff for fun, but in my reality I was trying to hold together my best friend, the charismatic confident man, who was beginning to fall apart.
