Amelia's POV:||
I sat alone on the bus, coming back from Bryce's. It was getting dark and the weather was horrid, I entertained myself by making the raindrops race, on the window. I got off at my stop and adjusted my bag on my shoulder, thinking about the chicken I left to defrost at the sink this morning. The rain was cold on the back of my neck and it was even worse when it started seeping through my shoes. A while down the path I could see a figure in the distance walking moodily along the path, kicking pebbles. As I got closer I recognised the voice, cursing relentlessly.
"John?" I asked. He turned around, his usually greased hair was all down over his face he panted a little and quickly fixed his hair the best he could.
"M-Minnie" he said with a forced smile. "What are you doing? You'll catch your death out here" he said bringing my into the arm of his coat.
"I could say the same to you" I retorted. He smiled down a little.
"I've had worse" he said
"So have I."
He smiled a little and shook his head lightly, pulling up the collar of his coat. "Goin' home?" He asked.
"Of course." I answered
"Comin' from St Andrews?" He smiled, raising an eyebrow.
"Y'didnt have to do that today" I said begrudgingly leaning into his coat.
"Yeah but I did." He smiled to himself. "My aunt wasn't happy with me again but she can shove it up her arse" he said.
"Oh okay" I said with a little laugh, probably shocked more than anything "What were you doing out here then?"
"Oh I was going to go to me mum's. But then you showed up" He smiled.
"Oh. Alright" I said, really not knowing what more I could say without getting into his personal life.
"Let's do something fun then" he suggested, looking down at me as the rain eased up for a moment.
"Oh? Oh no I-I can't, 've gotta look after gran I-" I started
"C'mon she's a hundred years old, I'm sure she could look after herself for one night" he persisted
"Yeah but-"
"And if you knew your gran like I do, you'd know that she wants you to have a life outside looking after her" he smirked.
"But you don't know my Gran" I argued.
"Yeah well let's find out" he said looking up towards my house.
"John-" was all I could get out before he started running towards my door "John!" I yelled, running after him. I was at his heels just as he ran through the front door.
"Minnie?" Gran called
"Sorry Gran, it's me" John said setting his hands on her shoulders
"Oh John, nice to see you!" She said, playing with a little bowl of fruit on her lap.
"Sorry we're a little wet, the weather is absolutely horrible out there" he charmed. I rolled my eyes and moved over to the chicken getting it onto a tray.
"No problem dear, you must be freezing!" She gasped
"S'really not that bad" he smiled, fixing his hair again.
"H-how was school Minnie?" Gran called
"Fine just fine Gran" I said, shoving the chicken into the oven
"Is that fruit?" John asked gesturing towards the bowl on her lap.
"Well yes, I can look after myself you know, I'm not all vegetable" she chuckled, Johns eyes lit up and a smirk played on his lips as he looked up at me.
