Finally, my hair was done and Gran was okay.
"See you Gran!" I said grabbing my coat
"Goodbye Minnie, love you!" She shouted frailly from her armchair.
"Love you too Gran" I said before walking out the front door. I pulled up the collar on my coat, it was getting colder every day and winter was not something I was looking forward to. I smoothed back my hair idly as I went over the formulae for the physics exam in my head.

"Mornin' Miss Minnie" A familiar voice called from ahead. It was John.
"Don't call me that" I said trying to walk past him.
"Well a 'Hello' would be nice" he chuckled, walking alongside me. I stayed quiet, shoving my hands in my pockets.
"An' how come other people can call you that but I can't" He persisted.
"No one calls me that" I argued
"Your boyfriend does" He grinned cheekily, like a little boy who knew something he wasnt allowed to tell anyone.
"...So" I said walking a little faster
"He's a St. Edwards boy isnt he?" He asked, matching my pace.
"Yeah and?" I said, not slowing down at all
"I dunno, I wouldnt expect that from you" he taunted
"And why not?" I asked, stopping in my tracks
"Well its a bit boring isnt it?" He laughed
"How so?" I asked raising an eyebrow
"Well y'know" He started, popping his collar "I get a lot of them St Edwards girls, coming to me to.. have a good time" He winked.
"Yeah if you could call four minutes in an alley a good time" I scoffed under my breath.
"What was that?" He asked, leaning closer a hint of mischief in his voice
"I said, I'm perfectly happy with my boyfriend thank you" I said, walking on
"Sure...I'm sure youre perfectly happy staying down at the cafe discussing Shakespeare" He teased.
"Yeah and I'm sure you're happy pointlessly shagging until you've done every busty blonde girl in Liverpool" I said
"Its only my life goal" He sighed.
"Alright Lennon alright" I said as we turned into the gates at school.
"Yeah yeah, you'll fall for my good looks and cunning wit soon enough Minnie" He winked
