The first thing I did when I woke up in the morning was check my phone for messages. I had one from Sam, but that was it. I sighed and opened the text message.
Sam: You better call me as soon as you get this! I need to know everything that happened last night. <3 ya.
I laughed, knowing the longer I waited to call her the angrier she would be with me, but I had to take care of something else first.
I got out of bed, got dressed and walked downstairs to see both of my parents sitting expectantly on the couch waiting. They sat close together to show that they were one united team and they both had their arms crossed. I laughed at the thought of them sitting like that waiting since they had gotten up.
“There is nothing funny about this young lady.” Said my father.
“I know. I’m sorry.” I said pulling myself together and sitting down in front of them, ready for the punishment.
“You will be grounded for a month.” Said my mother.
I gasped. That was a harsh punishment for only being a half hour late. “But I wasn’t that late and I called to apologize.” I complained.
“It doesn’t matter.” My mother shook her head. I looked to my father to see if he would argue and the look on his face told me that he had no idea the punishment would be that harsh.
“Honey,” he whispered. “I was thinking more like a week. She did call.” She stared at him in shock.
“But,” she complained. He eyed her expectantly and she sighed in defeat. “I guess you’re right.” She turned to look at me again. “you’re still grounded for a week do you understand?” she asked sternly. I nodded and started to stand up to leave but she cleared her throat and shook her head. “You’re not going anywhere, until you tell me how it went last night.” She smiled at me and I laughed.
“It went fine.” I replied.
She stared at me in shock. “Fine? Only fine? What did you guys do?”
“We went on the rides and got some dinner, then watched the show. We went on the ferris wheel last then he brought me home.” I explained.
Her eyes grew wide. “He brought you home?”
I nodded, smiling. “Yeah. I couldn’t find Sam, so he offered. Then when he dropped me off he told me he would call me.”
“Don’t forget the kiss.” Chris sneered as he walked into the room. I glared at him, It was obvious I had left that part out on purpose. How was it that he even knew? Then I remembered the curtains falling back.
“He kissed you?” asked my mother surprised. My father looked slightly angry.
“Yeah.” Chris interrupted again, before I could say anything. “But it was only a little peck on the cheek. Kinda pathetic if you asked me. He can’t be much of a man if he can’t even work up the nerve to actually kiss a girl.” He looked at me and winked, but he was behind my parents so they didn’t see.
“Yeah well no one asked you!” I retorted angrily. He just shrugged and walked over to the fridge. I slammed my fist down on the arm of the chair and stood up quickly. “You’re an ass.” There was a slight tremor in my voice, but I hid it as best I could. I could hear him chuckle as I left the room in a flurry and ran upstairs to my room.
I slammed my door loudly and it sent an echo through the house. I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself down. It was no use being angry when I was alone. Besides I had to call Sam and tell her what happened.
I picked up my phone and dialed her number.
“Hello?” she asked into the phone.
“Hey.” I sighed.
“ahh Sage! You better tell me what happened. I want to know every detail.” Her excitement was evident.
I laughed. “alright. Calm down.” I proceeded to tell her about everything that had happened during the night and what had happened when we got home. When I finished she was speechless. “You still there?” I asked.
“Yeah.” She breathed. I shook my head even though I knew she couldn’t see me. “so has he called you yet?” she asked
“No. not yet, but I’m not worried about it.” Then I realized something. “Crap!” I whispered into the phone.
“what?” Sam asked expectantly.
“I don’t think I gave him my number.” I sighed disappointedly. The night had gone past so fast I guess I just forgot to give it to him. I cursed myself for my stupidity.
Sam gasped. “You’re kidding?”
I shook my head involuntarily in response. “No.” my phone beeped next to my ear indicating that I had a text or another call coming in. I pulled the phone away from my ear to check the ID and it was a number I didn’t recognize. “Hold on. I’m getting another call.” I clicked the answer button and switched over to the other line.
“Hello?”
