The stars lean down to kiss you
And I lie awake and miss you
Pour me a heavy dose of atmosphere
It's noon and my mom is already calling me. She left me 17 voicemails and 25 text messages. Make that 18 voicemails.
I finally come out of Adam's room to eat. Adam's mom is home. She tells me that she also ran away. Girls need their space after the fight with their mother or father. Thanks, Mrs. Young.
20 voicemails and 30 text messages.
"You should really call your mom and say you're all right." Suggested Adam. He sets a plate with a grilled cheese on it in front of me.
"I don't want to talk to her." I snapped.
Adam holds out his hand. "Give me it."
I sigh as I hand him my phone. He texts my mom then gives it back. I take a bite of the grilled cheese. The gooey cheese stuck on the roof of my mouth.
I checked the message Adam texted.
Hey, this is Adam. Zabrina is at my house. <OwlCitizenForLife!>
I choked on the grilled cheese. "You texted my mom telling her I'm here?!"
"I'm sorry but I need you to not be here." He said, not looking at me.
"Not be here?!" I screamed. "I can be here! Next time, why don't you rip my heart out?!"
I lift myself out of the chair and ran to his room to grab my stuff. He follows after.
"Look, I need to tell you something."
"Say it quick!"
I turn to face him, slinging my bag on my shoulder.
"Fine!" He yells from anger. "I'm leaving in May for a tour!"
Silence. Silence that just went through the whole house. The whole neighborhood. Tears welled in my eyes.
"What?" I asked.
"My summer tour is coming in May and I need to leave for it. I wanna to tell you sooner."
I cover my mouth with my hand to keep back the sobs.
Adam's mom called up the stairs. "Zabrina, your mom is here."
I look away from Adam as I rushed past him.
He was crying too.
