Chapter 33

I wake up with the worst headache. Vernon walks into the room and jumps on the bed next to me. "Hey sleepy head, you have to get up and go apologize to Kim." He moves my hair out of my face. I just turn over and bury myself into the nearest pillow.

"Why? I don't ever want to talk to her again. She was clearly trying to flirt with you. I don't need people like her in my life." I groan out.

"You're acting like a childish teenager babe. Just because she was flirting with me doesn't mean I was flirting back with her." He says trying to change my mind I guess.

"I am a childish teenager, I don't know if you forgot. But as I recall you really weren't doing anything to stop her either. I saw the way you smiling back at her." I huff and sit up with my back against the headboard.

"You need to chill. Nothing serious was happening." Vernon says getting out of bed and looking at his phone that just beeped. He types in a reply then looks back at me. "You know what, just forget it. You don't have to do anything but we do need to go get Skylar." Why is he changing his mind all of a sudden?

"Who just texted you?" I question giving him a look. "Nobody, don't worry about it. Just hurry up and get dressed, we need to go." He walks out of the room leaving me by myself.

I take forever getting out of bed and getting ready. I walk into the living room to see Vernon sitting on the couch smiling at his phone. He doesn't even notice me walk in. "Um hello, are you ready to go?" I raise my voice and go to him.

He looks up at me for a split second then looks at his phone again. I go grab my car keys from the table and leave the apartment. I get in my car and wait. If he's not out in five minutes, I'm leaving.

Four minutes pass and he's still not out. Where in the hell is this boy!? I honk my horn then see him running out of the apartment. "Alright let's go." He says once he gets himself situated in the car.

I roll my eyes at him, not that he notices because his eyes are glued to his phone. "So I've been meaning to talk to you." Vernon sparks a conversation. "I need to go back to work starting this upcoming Monday, I just had to let you know."

"Oh" I murmur. "So you're going to like not be around as much, like when I first came to Korea with you?" I ask.

"No, well yes. But no, I'm going to be around but just not all the time. We have a new music video to record, and I have to finish recording my lines in the album. Also we're going to be doing a lot of comeback stages and interviews. It's all going to be pretty hectic." He gives me an I'm sorry look.

We pull up to his parent's house so I put the car in park. We get down and go knock on the door. His mom greets us with a crying Skylar in her arms. I automatically go to grab her but Vernon beats me to it.

As soon as he says "Hi baby" she stops crying and smiles. He then hands her to me and we proceed to enter the house. He goes and grabs her things while I sit on the couch talking to Sofia.

"Was she being good for y'all?" I ask. But I doubt it since she's only ever good for Vernon, and sometimes me. "Um, well, she cried a lot. Like so much. But it's okay because whenever she wasn't crying she was super cute." She says touching Sky's cheek.

Vernon comes up from behind me and says he's ready to go. We tell everyone goodbye then leave. Once in the car I start thinking about how much Sky is going to miss her daddy. I mean I can handle him being absent for long periods of time, but I don't know if she can.

"Vernon?" I look over to him but he's busy on his phone. "Hey, I need to ask you something." He just mumbles a what not really paying attention to me.

"I was thinking, Sky and I could just go with you. Whenever you go do shows and things, we can watch you in the audience or backstage. It's just that I'm not sure if Sky can be without you, you are her favorite and if you start leaving us alone then I don't know. All I know is that she's never fussy when she hears you."

"Uh, I don't know if that's a good idea. She's only like four months old." He's right. Ugh hopefully she won't miss him too much.
