The next day came, and it was time for the second exam. I was leaning on Gaara as I was listening to Anko's, the examiner for this test, speech. I know, it's surprising, I was actually paying attention for once. Ok that's a lie, I was trying to get Gaara to laugh. It, sadly, wasn't working, and he was ignoring me to listen to Anko.
Anko soon passed out the papers saying that she is not responsible for our deaths, which I signed immediately. We were then directed to a tent to receive a scroll. On my way, I left Gaara to tell my team that I am working by myself, and then run away to the tent before I could witness the aftermath of my decision. My plan worked perfectly and I got a heaven scroll. I went to the first gate, saying hi to everyone who passed me, receiving odd looks in return.
The signal to start sounded and I knew just where I was going. I was going to steal my team's scroll from Orochimaru.
It was really easy to find my team, since they don't know the meaning of stealth, and I was stalking them through the forest because timing is everything in my plan. It took them a few hours before they ran into Orochimaru. I formed some rope into a lasso so when Orochimaru knocked out Naruto and went to swallow there scroll, I quickly lassoed it and stole the scroll out from Orochimaru's tongue. Diverting attention from them to me, I started to attack Orochimaru. I was throwing shuriken at him as I was giving orders to the rest of my team, "Sakura, go grab Naruto. Sasuke, make sure, they stay safe. Now, both of you get out of here, and I'll see you at the tower!" Sasuke tried to talk me out of it like he did when Naruto showed up,"Kiara, we are not just leaving you. This guy! You don't understand! You can't win against him!" I knew I wasn't going to win,but the point was to get my team away from him. "Sasuke, I don't have to win, he's after you not me so get out of here. If I can handle Zabuza, I can hold this freak off. Besides you are tired and scared, your just being smart by leaving him to me!" Sasuke seemed like he still wanted to argue, but he knew that I was right and I could feel the presence off my team leaving. I didn't know my chakra nature and with Orichimaru, I couldn't afford to do anything that I didn't know would work. I took out the katanas that Zabuza had been teaching me to use. I was good enough with them that Zabuza was going to start teaching me how to use my other sword soon so I decided to use them.
Orochimaru was looking to where my team had left so I attacked to make sure that he didn't follow them. I started out on the offensive, but when he turned his attention to me, I was pushed to the defensive for the rest of the fight. After a while, my team should have been far enough away, but I was slowing down. I could barely keep up to begin with, and now that I was slowing down, he was just toying with me. He made a deep gash on my arm and when I paused to glance at it, he got behind me and stabbed me in the back. His sword was protruding through my stomach and not being able to take anymore I fell to my knees. I started to fall unconscious, but as I did I felt myself being picked up and thrown.
Third PoV
The body of an unconscious seven year old was crashing through the trees in the Forest of Death, only to be stopped by Shukaku's sand. The sand was not being controlled by Gaara, it was merely saving the host of the one it came from. The sand returned with the seven year old to Gaara and after laying her in front of Gaara, it went back into the gourd on Gaara's back.
Gaara looked at the unconscious form before him and whispered, "Kiara!" Much to the surprise of his siblings Gaara neither killed the girl nor did he leave he behind. Instead, Gaara picked her up gently and took her with him to the tower.
Kiara's PoV
I woke up in somebody's arms to the sounds of screams. I opened my eyes, ignoring the harsh glare of the sunlight and took in the scene around me. Gaara was holding me and the screams were Mist ninjas dying. I tuned into Gaara's conversation to hear something along the lines of,"no, it's not enough. I must kill more," or something like that, I was to busy find Hinata, Kiba, and Shino's chakra signatures to pay too much attention. Figuring that's who Gaara was thinking about killing, I jumped out of his arms and in front of the leaf team's hiding place shouting, "If you guys don't want to die young, I'd get out of here now!" They got out of the area as quickly as possible while Gaara and his siblings were staring at me. As soon as I could no longer sense their chakra signatures, I fell to my knees coughing up blood.
I had just finished bandaging my wound with Temari's help, when Gaara came over. The look in his eyes was concerned even though his face was indifferent as he asked me what had happened. I was too tired to tell him the whole story, so I told him the most important detail, at least to him, and that was that Orochimaru plunged a sword through me. Before anymore questions could be asked, I continued by saying that I should get going as I did not want to get in their way. To that thought I got no reply other than Gaara gently picking me up bridal style and carrying me toward the tower. Apparently Gaara was concerned for my well being and thought that I shouldn't be walking so he decided that he was carrying me with them to the tower, making it a good thing that I had the scrolls I needed. So, I finished the second exam being carried by Gaara and his siblings were continually being shocked by how kind and considerate Gaara was to me.
Gaara left me in front of the tower so I could finish by myself and went into the tower with his team. I used the wall to stabilize my half healed body as I walked into an empty room. I opened both scrolls and threw them into the center of the room. There was a column of smoke, revealing Kakashi as it cleared. I was so excited, I finished right after Gaara's team, making me the second one finished. My excitement dwindled slightly after hearing Kakashi's first words to me, "Oh My Gosh! Kiara! What happened? You look awful!" My eyebrow rose as I stated, "gee, that's just what a girl likes to hear, but I suppose that's ok since I was stabbed. Now, can we get this over with so I can go take a nap?" Kakashi jumped right into his explanation and congratulations that came with finishing.
I spent my days in the tower relaxing, napping, and hanging out with Gaara's team since my wound had healed the day after I got to the tower.
