Belle (Before)

The first week of school was finally over, and Soren was picking me up. I'm bringing along Farrah, since I figured her being alone wasn't the best option.

She stopped crying 2 days ago, but she's barely said a word. I know she's hurting, since I haven't seen Soren in weeks and I've had to restrain Imogen from shifting and running all the way to the Red Cries pack multiple times.

"So, are you excited?" I ask her, hoping for more than a one word answer.

Farrah shrugged, and sat down on the ground.

I blew out a breath and sat down next to her. Soon I saw a black SUV pull up next to us. I jumped up, only to be disappointed when Hunter got out.

I open my mouth to ask where Soren was but Hunter was already one step ahead of me. "The Alpha is currently busy and was unable to drive you to the pack." When he saw my face visibly sadden he added "He'll be there when you arrive, though."

"Well then we better get moving, and it's always nice to see you, Hunter." I saw a hint of a smile on his face as he walked away to get mine and Farrah's bags.

Once we were all in, Farrah leaned her head on the window and a moment later I heard light snoring. I ran my fingers through my hair, frustrated at generally everything.

Hunter had always been pretty reserved and avoids talking to me unless it's necessary so it surprised me when he asked, "So, how've you been?"

My mind went into autopilot and and I start my regular spiel. "Oh, I've been great! This year I'm student body president which is a huge responsibility but I'm sure I'll do a great job, also I'm the head of the book, environmental, and bird watching clubs which will be so much fun-" A chuckle came from Hunter and I saw him smile in the rear view.

"I meant seriously."

My face reddens since usually everyone just accepts that I'm happy with my perfect life and we both move on with our lives. "I...I don't know." I shrug. "I never wanted to be president in the first place but I somehow got roped into it, just like all the other clubs I joined or created. Farrah, the girl sleeping over there, she found her mate but he's already with someone else and she needs me right now but I already have so much on my plate, and theater, the one thing I actually love about school, auditions are coming up and I dont have anytime to prepare and the long distance relationship thing with Soren-" I take a deep breath. "Right now I just feel overwhelmed." I hug my shoulders, and I feel a bit of weight come off of me. For whatever reason, telling him my problems made me feel a bit better.

Hunter nods at this, "Well if you ever need someone to talk to, I'm right here." And I smile at him.

Farrah woke up a few minutes ago, and was staring out the window.

"We're about to cross the border." Hunter announces. Almost immediately I sense Soren a few minutes away. My foot starts tapping the floor, and by the time we reach the pack house I'm basically jumping up and down in my seat. As soon as the car stops, I leap out of the car and run towards the pack house.

I rush up the stairs, not even stopping until I'm outside of his office. I breath in and out, my run suddenly catching up on me, and the door opens. Soren picks me up and suddenly I'm spinning through the air and giggling. "I missed you so much." I breathe out.

He doesn't answer, but instead kisses me. It isn't rushed but slow and soft, like we're both trying to hold on to this feeling of being together.

After awhile we break apart, my face flushed. He lifts up my face and kisses my forehead. "Those were the longest two weeks of my life." I laugh, agreeing with his statement.
